Infant torticollis refers to an infant whose head has a side bend in one direction, where they have a very strong preference for one position when laying down.
The good news is that most of the time, infant torticollis conditions do resolve on their own. We’re not totally sure what causes torticollis in infants. It’s most likely related to how they developed in utero resulting in the structures in the neck being short and underdeveloped on one side. This leads to that tight neck and that side bending of the head.
