On Fireheart Tiger *SPOILERS*- after I shot this I googled some cultural terms and found that it is quite common to call people sis/bro in an endearing way there. In a different way than we do in America, I mean. Here, "bro" is a very common term we would call just about anyone. But in China specifically, they are used for more of a "brother in arms" or "means as much to me as a sister" type of way. it can be about loyalty and affection. I didn't find anything on this being used interchangeably for romantic relationships and I will stand by how weird it came off at the end.

Are there any retellings that have worked for you? I really love Lavinia, but 1) it’s Ursula K. LeGuin and 2) it grapples a lot with the idea of being a retelling, with Virgil appearing and also having a Dante moment.

For more fun reading, though a little young, try some Margret Peterson Haddix, Colleen Houck, or Tamora Pierce!

Love hearing what makes you like or not like a book! I think one of the main reasons I enjoyed What Moves The Dead so much is cause I haven’t read too much horror/thriller type books 😅 we’ll see if my opinion shifts as I get more exposed!

Bunker people: If that's not already taken as a book title, I call dibs! Also, there are children in India that can't afford buttons... Another engaging and entertaining set of reviews. The truth needed to be known.

I felt the same way with What Moved The Dead! It was such a pretty cover and the blurb sounded amazing (after reading Sorrowland and enjoying it, I thought it would be similar with the whole mushroom/fungus taking over the body horror theme) but it was honestly such a let down. Honestly, what bothered me the most was how dumb all the characters were.. I feel like I can’t get into a story if all the characters are too dumb and the bad things that happen to them are a result of their dumb choices.
