Nope. A test kit won't tell you anything. He added sand. Nothing on a test kit can test for harmful chemicals or his gills being clogged with tiny sand particles. Test kits test for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. That would kill the smaller pleco too, but it didn't, so it's not that
@russianlizard5551
9 ай бұрын
@@dimitrijekrstic7567 You are potentially right, the sand may have been the problem however the test kit can test for, as you’ve stated, ammonia, nitrates and nitrites which could potentially be the cause, plus a large sized fish in that tank has died so there will be a potential for a rise in ammonia levels in the water so it is still essential to test the water to make sure that there is no harmful chemicals remaining, im not saying your wrong, in fact you’re probably right, however with something as delicate as a fish tank it’s best to rule everything else out first

When fish mysteriously pass away, I always check them for pests or infections/other health problems (ich/swim bladder/so on). sometimes, this means you may have to perform a necropsy (dissection), but thats the cost of learning so you can continue caring for animals better in the future. Especially since only one animal in your communal tank passed, I would definitely try to see if you can see any evidence of damage on him in previous videos (assuming hes already buried/disposed of). I would also suggest using a water parameter kit (sold at most pet stores and all aquarium stores) and testing your water. Some animals are more sensitive to changes than others- bass are generally fairly hardy fish, so its hard to tell if they're good and healthy before its too late.

Ode to Jamal❤:In the quiet depths of the aquarium, Jamal, a vibrant fish with scales that shimmered like a cascade of precious gems, swam gracefully through the crystal-clear waters. His presence brought a unique energy to the aquatic community, weaving a tapestry of life beneath the surface. Jamal wasn't just a fish; he was a symbol of resilience, navigating the currents of existence with a quiet strength. The children who pressed their faces against the glass to catch a glimpse of his kaleidoscopic hues felt an inexplicable connection to this underwater marvel. As seasons passed, an unforeseen ailment cast a shadow upon Jamal's once-lustrous scales. Despite the best efforts of the caring aquarium staff, his vitality gradually waned. The once lively movements slowed, and the brilliance that defined him began to fade. In those final moments, the aquarium seemed to hush in collective mourning. Fellow aquatic beings swam somberly, as if acknowledging the impending loss of a dear friend. The children who once marveled at Jamal now observed with wide-eyed innocence, grappling with the concept of mortality. As Jamal gracefully swayed in the currents for the last time, a profound sadness washed over the aquarium. Yet, in the midst of sorrow, there lingered a poignant beauty. His legacy was not just in the memories of those who watched him glide through the water, but in the lessons he left behind. The fragility of life, the inevitability of change - Jamal's passing became a metaphor, etched in the hearts of those who bore witness to his aquatic odyssey. Through the ebb and flow of existence, his spirit lived on, a reminder that even in the vastness of underwater realms, every life, no matter how small, leaves ripples that resonate far beyond the still waters of a glass enclosure. 🪦🪦🪦RIP Jamal

Idk what sand youve used but if it was playsand or all purpose sand it can release silicates into the water and it can be toxic to the cells in the gills specifically apparently, i read this on a forum i looked into because i had planned to use it but decided against it because of these forums. Honestly though as a new fish parent and just in general working with fish its really hard to tell with fish sometimes unless theyre showing obvious signs of stress or diseases imho.

Plecco and Turtles are way more resilient. Like cat fish they about can live in almost any water conditions. There's been some cat fish to live in a chlorine pools for weeks without dying, so could of very well been the sand. One time like 25 years ago when I was 7 my parents were watching one of my dads buddies fish while he was in the process of moving one of the tanks they had in my parents garage some how got a micro crack and when we came home the tank only had less than inch of water left in it so my dad had no choice to fill it up with a hose for best chance of survival while my mom ran to the store to pet store to get the additives for water to make if suitable for fish but it was too late by the time she got home all the fish died (like a dozen) except the 3 Plecco's, because they were able to withstand the chlorine in the water for breif timespan. So like I was saying Plecco's are wayyy more resilient to water containments and discrepancies.

A vast colony of essential bacteria occupies an aquarium’s substrate. When you added the new sand, about how much of the old substrate did you leave behind? Idk, I crashed a tank doing 100% substrate replacement, my betta and my pleco lived… total loss of everything else.

My grand parents brought back a small fresh water shell from their vacation after several months sitting out we put it in our tank and 1 by 1 our fish would die when we got to the last fish and it started acting like the others did before dying while watching him close I noticed a small black dot on the fish that had furry edges around the dot I CAUGHT the fish in the net and with a sewing needle and tweezer I plucked the black dot of and put a damp of iodine on the area I removed the dot from I put the black furry dot in a clean baby food jar with water and it was moving like a jellyfish would then I added rubbing alcohol to the water then setting it on fire making sure it died then melted jar and lid in red hot coals from a fire fish got a little bit better and live a little while longer but it had taken to much damage from the creature that was on it that SURVIVED OUT OF THE WATER FOR ALMOST YEAR DRIED UP ON THE SHELL IN A CREVASSE WE RINSED THE SHELL BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO THE TANK AND IT WAS ONLY DORMANT REVIVED REHYDRATED AND LIVED OFF OF THE FISH UNTIL KILLING IT THEN MOVED TO THE NEXT ONE IT HAD GROWN FROM INVISIBLE TO BIG ENOUGH TO SEE CLEARLY ONCE SPOTTED . 💥💥 NATURE IS TUFF AND WILL SURVIVE AS PLANNED OVER 6,000 YEAR'S SINCE THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY CREATED EVERYTHING PERIOD YOU SHOULD TREAT EVERYTHING YOU PUT INTO YOUR TANK BOILING AND USING NATURAL THINGS LIKE LEMON JUICE AND OTHER'S AND SUNSHINE BEFORE ADDING TO YOUR TANK IF YOU ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE FISH OR REPLACE THEM AS THEY DIE LIKE THE THROW AWAY SOCIETY WE HAVE BEEN PROGRAMMED TO LIVE IN .
