I’d beg to differ. Ever since I got my Bullmastiff I can’t take a walk without damn near every other person stopping me to greet him and ask questions. His size usually makes people curious while his loving personality keeps them wanting to give him all the pets and cuddles. He eats up every single second of the attention! 😂 🥰 🥰 🐾

@@6ft7guy well a Bullmastiff is definitely not hard to get if you’re willing to drive or have the pup flown out. The breeds u mention are going to be harder to find but still not impossible. You can find a Tibetan mastiff pretty easily. I’d say it’s a Tosa Mastiff that’s going to be rare not a Tibetan. Before I got my Bullmastiff I had never saw one in our neighborhood. I’ve lived here in Bay Area for 16yrs. Yes they’re easier to find but doesn’t mean you see one everyday. I recently took my BM to the dog beach in San Francisco. In my 3hrs there I saw over 6 Golden retrievers and several Frenchies. My bullmastiff was the only one there those 3hrs. I’m not saying people approach bcuz he’s a rare breed. People generally stop to ask questions due to the LARGE SIZE of the breed. 9months old and 135lbs is big. Most people don’t have dogs that big. Archie’s dad is 150lbs and his mom 130. My guess is he will max out at 150 at 2yrs old. I actually think the guy who originally commented meant the dog is good for introverts becuz they guard people and therefore no one will want to come near u. Introverts don’t like attention.

A warning for anyone thinking of getting this bread. Do not get one if you have knee, hip, shoulder or back problems also do not get one of you are petite or thinly built. These beautiful dogs are large and very powerful and you need to be able to have complete control of them especially if/when they are set off, too many people thinks they can handle them when they can’t and the dog is the one the suffers for it.

At 3am in the morning my 2, male and female, went ballistic! I was amazed at their speed! Some guy was trying to break in and he saw them and fled. I have very tragically seen my male kill another dog! I was with my two dogs and a large, 120 lbs/55kg German shepherd totally attacked us while off leash and not even a collar while jogging in a park with a young woman. I had my dogs on lunge lines to control them but I feel as we had had trouble here before- a dangerous park at night- they were extra vigilant. So my male intercepted him and ended the poor guy in one hit! That's a lot of power and owners need to realize their potential if provoked. They will die for you and my male was 147lbs and my female was 123lbs so they're a fairly large dog. But they overall are a joy to own unless you're in a hot or humid climate- they're not a Miami kind of dog in my opinion. And man they can drool!

I'd love to meet a kind big dog aside from my own, I have a great Pyrenees and he's the sweetest, most loving sh¡thead, but im still sometimes uncomfortable when his face is near mine. 4 of the 6 large dogs I've met were horrifyingly untrained, 2 st bernards (same owner) bit my face, no growling, no warning, they just snapped at me. The next one was actually mine for a couple of days, she was a beautiful pitbull lab mix, the old owner said she was well trained, and needed to get rid of her quickly as he was moving, right after getting her we knew he lied, we tried texting him about it, but he had already blocked us. She was kind to me the whole time, but with no warning would attack my sister and sister in law, after 4 days of trying to get her used to them with a muzzle and a leach whenever she was out of the cage, constant reward treats, and pets for good behavior, she went bolistic, she was from day one the sweetest love bug to me, but day 4 she was almost braking the cage trying to attack me, we knew we had to but her down. After these incidents I wasn't very comfortable around big dogs, and walked across the st to avoid them, but walking across the st doesn't work when a dog thinks that whole street was his, this massive brown and black bull mastiff growling, barking and drooling has chased me, and my pregnant sister home on two different occasions. I hate to say it, but luckily my neighbor ran that dog over. intentionally or not, I'm glad it happened, theres kids outside all the time that the dog had shown aggression toward, and the owner just watched, the dog had to go. I've always loved and respected big dogs, but I don't think I could ever be fully trusting of them again. I've had meny horrifying situations with dogs and at end of the day, they could murk me in seconds, I'm 5'5, 130lb, have no muscles, and no matter how hard I try cannot hide fear, so, far from your stereotypical man, some large dogs are taller and heavier then me, and that is horrifying. Im sad I have such an unfair bias against large dogs because of a few bad dogs, and I would love to meet kind large dogs because they are incredible and useful members of our society, but I don't know if I ever could because I get nervous when im near them and im pretty sure my fear makes them mad or aggressive towards me... or dogs just think im a chew toy... either way it's spooky, and 100% about training. dogs are weapons, and should be trained as such.

I still remember being a small child, going into the kitchen where he slept as a puppy and snuggling with him and how sweet he was. Then, after reading that, if you still want that breed, you know what you're getting yourself into - can't say you weren't warned. Not that every dog in that breed will have those particular traits, but the potential is there, specifically for that breed. Hope that helps.

My family recently adopted a Kelpie x Bullmastiff (currently almost 6 months old) and he's already protective of us and our property. My dad has previously trained three Rottweilers into effective guard dogs for his house and work truck. They were all capable of switching the guard mentality off, being friendly pets who were child-safe and very tolerant of touch in their downtime. Our current dog won't be quite as massive as a proper Bullmastiff but, looking at him now, it's not hard to imagine that his adult teeth and sheer strength could be a safety issue if we weren't prepared to give him the training he requires.

Walk daily for stimulation and they will lay at your feet, cone for cuddles, sit on your lap, comfort you when sad, show happy wagging tails when you come home, sleep a lot don’t eat too much. Perfect I have owned for 20 plus years. The not so good is, hair they malt a lot, brindles less so, drool, pant in warm weather, and don’t live long enough. My best friends. Xxx. It’s more about the owner. As for all dogs.

Does anyone else get fed up of trying to research something on KZitem and then coming across this nonsense. I’m sure the guy is very knowledgeable, but it’s like he’s had so much camera training for KZitem and it drives me mad. I just want to learn about the breed in addition to reading and visiting breeders.

Omg I know exactly what you are going through. It's even harder to stop a Red Bone them from an unwanted behavior. That stubborn trait is what makes them such good trackers.

@@evanscott4692 I would love to see what a professional dog trainer could do with a Redbone . We have owned close to 50 dogs of 20+ breeds and never had a dog like that. Good luck

@@evanscott4692 if he's from hunting lines, the energy level is probably even worse. Had a lady that had a Golden Retriever with way too much energy for their family. Told her to feed him out of the buster cube (this was years ago when that was the only thing around). That is how the dog had to eat. By the time they came back the next week to class, the 12 yr old kid (originally afraid of the dog), was able to walk the dog into class on a regular buckle collar. The owner said she never would have believed it if she didn't try it. Sara Ondrako also has a video on how to make a snuffle mat with a pocket - this helps stimulate them mentally and tamp down their energy level. Taking him new/different places and making him think, as well as getting him to walk down steps rather than run helps as well. My younger Dobe won't eat his lunch if I put it in his dish - has to be in his snuffle mat. Lol. Hope that helps.
