La Chaise Dyable (and you said it right) is my favorite one, the mix of French old songs, black metal and medieval harmonies is awesome to me And yes I know they're NS I speak French, but I only care about the music The thing about the song you're talking about, is not just one ghost, it's the whole French rural country that is filled with old ghosts, with graveyards filled with more people than the actual people living in the village
@hugonicolas987

I must say that I disagree, the last album Peste Noire/ Peste Noire does have some glorious moments, especially the second half. This is really the kind of music you want to listen when you go for a walk in the city at night, the album has much less of a rural vibe as the formers. But I think that it is mandatory to at least understand french well to fully get the album, and in particular the last track, "Domine", which is for me one of the best track ever conceived by Famine. The track is really introspective and personal, really emotional, the first time I heard it it left me in awe. I am a big fan of Peste Noire, they are one of the first black metal band that I really get into, along with Diapsiquir, and you really have to get what they are saying to fully appreciate their works, for both of them. Whatever Famine choose to do with his life, I will always be thankful to him for giving birth to such incredible music. L'ordure à l'état pur will forever be a pinnacle of musical genius.

m8l8th started out as black metal (demo era). Their debut album was black metal as well, but with a tiny little bit of metalcore influence. At the time, it was easy to rationalize this somewhat heretical metalcore element by saying "they're a Russian band, they have different cultural inroads into black metal than a Norwegian or Greek band, modern RAC, football hooligan culture, etc." It's a genuinely good album, albeit a little silly. Their new stuff though... good lord.

regarding 2009 "Ballade Cuntre Lo Annemi Francor", most of the lyrics from this album are taken from french nationalists / historic / traditional songs, when it's not literally some 15th century patriotic poem like the eponym song. songs like "La France Bouge", royalist, antisemitic song from the 1900/1910's, "Le Clan" which has massive National Socialist undertones, "les Hussards de Bercheny", french military adaptation from the Warszawianka, and "honneur et fidélité" whose title speaks for itself. this album roots deep into the culture of french nationalism and mixes it with typical black metal dirtiness. it's honestly the most political album they ever made (with the exception of the exetremly antisemitic "la bêche et l'épée..." on the self titled), and Neige plays on it, although under pseudonym.
