Going through the same thing with Ford, feel your pain sir. I have a 2019 F250 that leaks massive amounts of water in the cab every time it rains or it’s washed. Bought it in January 2019, I’m my possession for maybe 10 days, in shop remainder of time. Just got Ford to approve lemon law last Wednesday, more than 30 days out of service. Wanted to replace but based on how I was treated at dealer and by Ford I’m leaving the brand. My dealer told me this was a Ford issue and they would not risk financial loss for Ford motor company. They only buy and resell is what I was told. Also strong armed me to bring loaner back. Said I had it too long, my fault I guess. The entire situation is crap. Just starting lemon law, but already starting to see Ford posturing on what they will and will not compensate me for. I feel like I’m going to lose money on this even though its a Ford issue. The truck has a whopping 190 miles on it. Will update on the buy back process as it evolves this week. I’m ready to be finished after 8 weeks of arguing to push ford and Ford of Port Richey FL to honor the quality of a $71k (full sticker retail) truck. Buyer beware.

Sick, just sick. Spend the better part of $100K on a truck and get shit on. What a world we live in these days. Your a FORD dealership yet you won't stand behind the products you sell. What a joke. That dealership should have let you keep that loaner as long as you damn well wanted / need and kissed your ass on top of it. There are days I look out at my old 08 RAM 1500 5.7 and think the old girl is getting a bit tired at 240,000 miles... but I'll be damned if it doesn't start right up and run like a top. I paid $4,800 for the truck about a year and a half ago. At this rate, I'll be keeping it another five or six years and for sure won't be buying a FORD truck when I do get another one. The sad part? I actually like the look of the truck, I like what you get for the money. I'd be a potential buyer. But knowing what I do about how horrible they are in terms of customer service and the problems with the 3.5's and 5.0's.... never. I'm temped to just rebuild the hemi in my truck and throw on a rebuilt tranny and just run it until the body rots off.... I think I'd be way further ahead.

I just took my 2018 5.0 in this week for the new updated tsb you mentioned for the rattle and also the CEL was on for a camshaft position sensor. 7k miles. Bought the truck in January of 2018 and first noticed it around spring time when I had the windows down. Progressively it got louder and rattled for a longer time. Before I took it in I was timing it anywhere between 1.5 and 3 seconds of rattle. Now that the tsb was done it’s still there, but much much quieter and just a split second. I told them about the tsb 18-2354, but they did 18-2360, which I’m guessing is the new once since they did the phasers and solenoids. Other than that, the truck has been great the last 14 months

I live in farm country and their is a 35 year Ford dealer that serviced the farms, loggers, resort vehicles and residents in the area. The eco boost was the start of their demise along with aluminum body panels. Their pretty but they don't hold up to people and businesses using them as a truck. It seems the new choice for the locals has been Ram trucks. Haven't heard complaints yet. The start stop on mine I believe killed it. Ever collect bales of hay for 10 hours pulling a hay wagon. It was in for service every couple weeks. I decided to try a Nissan Titan. No issues at all yet. The local Ford dealership has a overflowing lot of new trucks, even 2018's. I have a 2018 5.0, and I’ve had two separate rattling noise issues. First was cold start, step on gas, noise immediately after release. Sounded like dropping a heavy chain in the engine compartment. Ford TSB 18-2354 sort of fixed that, though when I picked it up it was just quieter, and a few thousand more miles in, I haven’t noticed it. Of course that was after three trips, getting “it’s totally normal,” and me having to find and demand the specific TSB number be done. The other noise is still a mystery... sounds like tinny metal rattling under transmission, but only at random times. Sounds exactly like a loose heat shield, but I can’t make it happen going over bumps or anything. Only seems to be accelerating or decelerating, and it happens whether it’s a sudden or slow acceleration or deceleration. Hoping it is heat shielding or something, not torque converter or transmission

Your story sounds all to familiar. My 2017 ecoboost had the same problem, went through updates and finally the timing chains and camphasers were replaced with no fix. I remember the ford mechanic called me at one point and even explained that he was instructed by ford to deactivate the camphaser selonoids which actually made the sound go away but we both agreed it was dishonest on not a good fix. I really believe ford has either camphaser or oil pressure problems with both of these engines. I was in the same position you are in about getting a new truck. In the end ford bought the truck back and I ended up with a 2017 powerstroke which has been flawless and surprisingly gets the same gas mileage. Good luck.

Other than that, It ran great. 100’s of others on the F150 forum all had the same issue and it turned out to be the VCT solenoids and cam phasers. I took it to ford 3 times and they still refused to change that stuff out. They would call me and say it was fixed each time, I’d get up there and it would literally go dead while Idling in their lot. I got sick of the issue so I traded it in on a Ram 2500 Cummins. I had a 2015 and 2017 Zaza F150. Both with 2.7 ecoboost. I traded in the 2015 for a 2017 brand new. The 2015 was a xlt with the 301 package. I found that I like the 2.7 and 6speed trans but wanted the 302A package so I traded up to a new 2017 xlt with the 302A package. That was a mistake. Even with the drive train was the same specs, the 2017 had less power. More rattle noise and It blew out blue smoke when you do a cold start. The did a oil consumption test. It did not use oil. Here is the crazy thing it actually made oil. And of course I had to break a arm at the dealership to get them to look at it. After two visits my wife and I could tell where this situation was going. Nowhere. So I traded it in on a used 2018 F150 Platinum with the 5.0, Mistake #2. It is using oil with no leaks. About a quart every 1500 miles. After researching this I found out that Ford doing a pcm reprogram, changing the oil filter and oil along with putting a new dipstick in it that will trick people into thinking it is not burning that much more oil anymore. I have not had the vvt rattle noise or trans issue yet. Really nice truck but Ford needs to get there $hit together. I like the chassis and body but there engine and trans sucks. The money that people pay for this is a loss. I should have bought a ram or chevy. Please if you are ready this don't buy a Ford. Pick something else. You will thank me later on.

Yes. I went to the NHTSA website and my truck VIN was in that recall. I printed that out when my truck was shifting erratically and took it to my local Ford dealer. They claimed it was unrelated to my transmission lead frame needing replacement. The service representative claimed all they would do for the recall is to reprogram the transmission and that would do nothing to solve my problem. I was skeptical because a previous recall on 2013 F-150s also said they would replace the lead frame once in addition to reprogramming the transmission, if needed. Fortunately my CarMax extended warranty covered the cost of replacing the lead frame. Once I got the truck back from that service I drove it back to CarMax and sold it back to them. Then I took a Greyhound bus to my nearest Lexus dealer and got my ES350. No more Fords for me. Transmission failure at 13K miles is unacceptable.

When I would drop it off, they would only keep it for a day or two and say they could not replicate issue. I was also told that since there was no warning codes, then there was nothing they could do about it. If there is not a code, then the truck is working to Fords specifications. Unfortunately, just because it makes noise or 'clunks' doesn't mean it's broken or nonconforming, so I am stuck.

They replaced a relay, and said it's good to go. 5 minutes after picking it up, it froze up again. Unless the shop foreman physically comes out to verify what is wrong, it will always be the same answer from them..."we started it. We experienced no issues but we went ahead and changed some "parts". Yes, I requested the lead technician come experience what it is doing. Service advisors and managers don't know shit. My 2017 Raptor with 20k on it started to make a pretty loud rattle noise under light acceleration , took it to the local DLR and 4 days after I called for status was told the phasers are making the noise, I was skeptical about this but.... they are the specialist right. Fast forward a MONTH later after numerous calls on my part was told the truck is ready. Made it to the DLR right before closing, get in my truck and soon as I left the parking lot made the exactly the same noise . Next morning extremely irritated I had the service manager and the “ master mechanic “ who worked on my truck to come with me for a test drive, the noise appears right away , the mechanic ( who by the way only works on SVT vehicles including the GT) asked me is this 4 wheel drive? Yes he did, after I confirmed that indeed the Raptor is a 4 wheel drive he asked me to pull over to the service drive, runs in to parts and comes back with 2” vacuum hose, opens the hood and 5 min. Later the truck is fixed.......... I was speechless, after 4 weeks and unnecessary engine repairs the problem was a vacuum which controls the front differential. Needless to say no one cared. Let me be clear I LOVE MY F150 I think is a wonderful truck but my next purchase will be different brand just because of service.

They kept my truck for 27 days for a trans TSB, which I had to shove in their face to prove it existed. Word of advice: if they do it to you again and keep your truck for a month without updates or any actual work, then you have to escalate. I thought to be nice to them and give them a benefit of a doubt; they don't give a fuck. You have to get on their nerves as much as they've gotten on yours and get Corporate on the line. Injectors take a long ehile before they cause issue. Majority issues come from the emission BS which needs to be removed. The other diesel we own, yes we own 2 of them, is gone ove rhalf the year with a 1/2 capable 9000lbs camper behind it majority of te time. My truck tows a tractor every now and then. Being that im in cattle/ranch work and getting into land development, rather have the vehicle to last a while than one causing issues. It might tow 1/4 of its entire life of my ownership but thats plenty. Frankly i dont want to put a 40ft gooseneck on a 1500 again. Diesles last way longer than a gas. They hold their value way stronger too. In 5 years time my truck will still be in the $55k mark while many gas trucks are pushing the mid 20s from the orginal 50k tag. You buy a diesel for the value you get not just the towing aspec. I know many guys who are in trucking and wanted to get the pete 389 with the 72in high bunk. Turns out the flat top holds its value more so they just deal with the lower cabin. Money talks in the end. Bullshit never ends up anywhere.

@@johnstrand2247 you're right John. They're all after the consumer. You're on you're own. These truck aren't cheap and you feel ripped off when even the manufacturer is unable or unwilling to fix the vehicle. Let's rape the consumer.

You need to deal with the Ford Dealer rep from Ford corporate. They will fix all of your problems

I have stethoscoped the engine during the noise and the noise is the loudest from the exhaust phaser solenoid. It does sound like a chain rattle but you can put your hand on the top of the exhaust phaser solenoids on both sides and feel it hammer when it makes the noise. I think possibly the solenoids are being over worked.

Which is what Ford has now deemed to be replaced but if it's just being replaced with the same exact parts it doesnt actually help anything.

@@WICKEDAUTO1 yeah im afraid we are going to have to wait a while before there are some revised parts. Will probably take ford years to update the TSB on the issue. Until then dealers are going to throw parts at it. Im just going to drive mine until something new happens.

Well I have a 16 Silverado ltz and can’t wait to get back into a f150 my Chevy is nothing but problems. I’d just drive it and wait for something to break then have it fixed under warranty
