Ha! Just like that! Phil Collins is one of the classic rock era's greatest drummers! Thankfully I was lucky enough to catch him live with Genesis when Steve Hackett was still there! And Bill Bruford too!

Bill wanted to expand and change the songs in live performance and Genesis just isn’t that band. They played the score completely straight the same every night, as you would classical music. Bill had come from Crimson, where there was more space to experiment. It was a bad fit.

love it! also, in my opinion I do hear an echo or homage to "wot gorilla" in Rush's "tom sawyer" ..definitely in it's 7/8 "pre-chorus".. i've seen Neal speaking in high regards to Phil Collins

Wonderful instrumental song. Was the title inspired by the famed Psychology experiment?

The pattern that Phil’s playing comes from a song by Weather Report “Nubian Sundance” Ishmael Wilburn is the drummer that composed/played that beat/pattern & Skip Hadden doubles with him on drums via live recording too.

Similar, but I don't think it's the same. Possibly 'inspired by' rather than 'copied'. That said, there are only so many possible combinations out there, so a degree of similarity and repetition is inevitable. Same with melodies and chord sequences.

It's one of my favourite Genesis tracks. . Not saying Steve Hackett didn't deserve more room to play and compose and he was probably rightfully p*ssed off that he was pushed into the background by the rest of the band members, but I would say that 'Wot Gorilla' was a great track. . Not really crap. Well, that's my opinion. . for what it's worth. . No more and no less than anyone else's opinion, I guess.
