Necromorphs have mind hacks and almost total immortality, that's pretty much it. Flames (not actually sure if flames kill them totally) and corrosive chemicals are pretty much the only thing able to actually 100% wound them due to them destroying cells. The Marker needs biomass, living or dead, to make necromorphs. You have to pretty much completely deconstruct the cells into base atoms to kill a necromorph for good.

The Kaiju come from another dimension, the rift is opened from another dimension completely underwater. The Kaiju themselves are not the aliens, their the weapons the aliens send to kill off the humans. And what makes them so freaking dangerous is that because that portal is open they can just keep sending more and more through it at whatever pace they’d like. In the movie they managed to send a Jaeger through the rift and blew a nuclear bomb on the other side, stopping their advance for decades.
@rougarabid
14 сағат бұрын
I don’t think that’s true. Not the being sent from the breach thing them being able to send as many as they like. It makes no sense for them to only send 1 at a time for decade with a max of 3 if they could just swarm the whole planet with Kaiju. Having said that it doesn’t make a difference the issues the Kaiju have with needing higher CO2 levels to survive will still be an issue.
@MisterRombus-
13 сағат бұрын
@@rougarabid you’re right about the CO2 thing, as polluted as the blood of the Kaiju is the creators that made them wouldn’t really try it as that would be too much work for it to be worth it. but in the movie it was an actual plot point that the rift was getting bigger and the Kaiju were coming through at a faster rate. At first it was like once a month, but over the course of a few years bigger ones kept coming through, and they started coming through faster than before. By the events of the movie they were able to send 2 extra big Kaiju through the rift, and not an hour after that 3 more really big ones. However the war torn worlds will be a serious F’ing problem as there is smoke in the air and lead in the ground on those worlds… in fact the war itself might actually be creating the conditions on these planets for the precursors to send the Kaiju through
@edima

Yes, and no. 🤔 It's very plausible at least one it's slipping, becoming the cockroach of the galaxy. Not all citizens or SEAF troops in the Helldivers world have the knowledge to build a spacecraft (fortunately). Granted a Thing gets more intelligent the more big it becomes, small forms are very instinctive and animal-like, it's possible it could build one depending on who it's absorbs. Based on what we know, it plausible the Thing would likely want to move to a more populated area of the planet to spread further but also flying to a spacecraft isn't out of the picture. Yes, it cand deceive and ambush, but by using the fact that the Thing only years for *self-preservation and spreading itself* , you can easily deduce it's next steps by keeping these two factors in mind. But in my opinion, due to how violently social and numerous we humans are, we could easily detect one before it's too late. It happened to the Norwegian outpost and the Outpost 31 with relative ease, just send a message to a Super Destroyer, quarantine the area and done!

That's why the blood test works at all.

1) It reveals itself at the start of the film be turning into a mutant dog creature for basically no reason. 2) This is worded weirdly. Sounds like you started defending 1 point but then just repeated your first point again. 3) That doesn’t make sense. The blood test is done separate from the host so bringing it up doesn’t prove your claim. Not saying you’re wrong but your argument doesn’t prove it.

@@rougarabid 1) In a secluded location, around animals that's cannot communicate it's secret. If clarke hadn't shown up when he did, The Thing might have been able to assimilate all the dogs and been back in disguise without anyone ever finding out. 2) The Thing becomes a perfect copy, so if the bugs make the oil blood, or if the oil blood has oil blood cells, then a bug Thing makes the oil blood. 3) In my mind, a hive mind means psychic communication, and the blood test shows that smaller Thing colonies can't be controlled by larger, and smarter Thing colonies. A Thing colony's intelligence is directly related to it's mass. A blood sample sized Thing is about as smart as a lizard.

@Lookalikealagaler the thing kind of does have a hivemind, just in the way that the thing has to infect by assimilation so new things will know what's going on automatically. What ACTUALLY holds the Thing back, are two factors : Super Earth's fanaticism and the environment of the various Planets. -1)Helldivers and SEAF settlers and troops will no doubt immolate themselves or commit sudoku when infected, something that is antithetical to the Thing, which is all about self-preservation and spreading itself, thus reducing it's possibilities to spread. -2)Destroying a whole planet to the ground to get rid of it isn't out of the ordinary for Super Earth, as they turned Meridia into a Black Hole to get rid of a massive Terminid hive. -3)Some planets are just really bloody hostile for the Thing to live on, some have acidic and sulfuric springs and others like Hellmire have fire tornadoes on the daily. -4)Laser weapons are even more common than the Flame weapons, and at least 1 Helldiver out of 4 wields one, and they too set the enemy on fire, so hostile exposed Thing(s) would be dealt with quickly. Not to mention now Helldivers wield smaller versions of the flamethrower, 2 incediary shotguns, flame grenades and a flame secondary. Like, any uncovered or directly hostile Thing(s) are pretty much fucked from the get-go. -5)If anyone manages to do what Macready did, comunicate of what the Thing does to spread itself, Super Earth is just going to come up with strict guidelines , inspections and disinfestations to avoid it spreading. ...or straight up decide to cover an area with acid or orbital lasers, kill the whole crew outright to prevent the Thing from getting any biomass. The REAL challenge, is identify it, before it spreads.

Would the Helldivers survive a covenant invasion (including termanids, super earth, and the automatons)
@DragonChief157
11 сағат бұрын
Probably no, or even hard no. For one, the navy cruiser of super earth is never shown or alluded to having ship to ship combat and they get regularly blown up by planetary defenses. Plus, they look smaller and weaker compared to even the prowler of UNSC which is a stealth ship to support space battle and not good at direct engagement. 2, even if they do, many people keep forgetting this, UNSC, were losing, and almost lost, and humanity almost going extinct alongside it, and the covenant full might of their forces aren't even taking the war seriously until the first halo blew up. In halo, human didn't win the war, they just survived long enough to have master chief plot point of pissing of the major factions between the covenant and indirectly causes a civil war by blowing up the first halo which happened basically 5 decades into a war of survival where human were constantly hiding and preventing their ships from being boarded because they don't want the covenant to know the location of other major human settlements and most importantly earth. Finally, hell divers are going to lose badly in an engagement against covenant ground troops. One, their support of their destroyer is not guaranteed, because covenant always have orbital superiority, because their ships are just better. Two, even if the destroyers are supporting the troops on the ground, they can't deal with elites, or brutes. Those troops are really fking fast, they are always stated to be just as fast as Spartans and even stronger than them. Elites have their shield, and brutes are just going to ignore most of small arms through sheer monke power.

If the Thing gets on a civilian planet with flora and fauna, it will take over MUCH faster than you think. The only reason it didn't immediately take over Earth in it's own movie is because it's in a frozen tundra and doesn't have access to biomass, if it dropped in a forest the entire planet would be fucked. Also, if it assimilates even one person who can fly a spaceship, it WILL get off planet because it has all of their memories and would know that Super Earth will destroy it eventually if it doesn't spread out. I also believe it would be much more stealthy than it was in the movie. In the movie, it was starving for who knows how long before it came into contact with people so it would have immediately attacked. After it had assimilated one person and knew how isolated they were from their memories it would really have no reason to hide anymore, because it knew help wasn't coming. If it both had ready access to food in a temperate area and knew that Super Earth would just glass it if it got too freaky, it would absolutely lie low. It might even get a part of it onto Super Earth before anyone knew what was happening, and we don't know what the defenses of Super Earth actually look like. If it hasn't been invaded in hundreds of years then it's quite likely that all of it's defenses are focused outward and it won't be able to respond too quickly on the ground, which would give the Thing enough time to spread and become a real issue.

28:35 ok so the Kaiju themselves don't do the Traveling, it's their alien creators the precursors that created the portal in the ocean the Kaiju emerge from. Theoretically I guess they"d be able to make a portal onto any planet in a dimension they'd like, at least in this scenario. I guess the bigger question though is if the Precursors would care to take over other planets once they have one, they may not have the resources or motivation for Galactic conquest. That being said any particular planet they want should be a cake walk to get with how durable even the less powerful Kaiju are, and How precursors with generically modify the next set Kaiju to counter the planets defenses as they learn more of their weaknesses. Of course they have no true counter to the planet getting destroyed, BUT since the kaiju portals onto open for small periods of time in secluded places, and only allow things with kaiju dna to pass through, it means the Precusors in their own dimension will always be safe to make more kaiju on a different world. The aliens being pich black would actually be bad for their strath in any outdoor setting, being as the sky is dark blue at night, they’re actually darker then the sky, and also them being darker makes them more visible in forests and other similar places In a modern or futuristic urban setting though, they’re much better suited, because the shadows from our lights are actually far darker

A few correcta about the pacific rim section. We do know that the kaiju are essentially vat grown soldier clones. And they do not live "on earth", they come from a different dimension, through the breach. This is explained in the movie opening, and in the ending you get a glimpse of what the kaiju's world looks like. As for us not having the weaponry to take down a kaiju, the first kaiju that came through the rift was brought down by the armed forces using tanks and jets. The automatons have analogs of both, and its safe to say(based off the first helldivers game) that so does super earth. Kaiju can be brought down by conventional heavy weapons fire.

On the subject of xenomorphs, their size, strength, speed, and abilities can vary wildly based on the host species. This is shown in the movies, not just the expanded universe of the comic books and novels. So, you can have Xeno's that fly, barf acid, rip landing shuttles in half, all the fun nightmare fuel. They also breed very quickly, provided a Queen is present and there is a ready supply of viable hosts species. The maturation rate of going from egg to drone in a matter of hours also means that replenishing their numbers takes very little time. In my opinion, the greatest determining factor of their success would be which type of planet they start on and the composition of the 'invading' force. A handfull of eggs are enough to get the ball rolling on a human controlled planet, while you'd need a Queen or a few Preatorian Drones present on a Termanid world to subdue a few for the facehuggers to impregnate. The end result would likely be similar to the Hive War story arc and result in the entire planet becoming embroiled in a full-on genocidal struggle. In the case of the Automatons, the Xeno's are mostly fucked without a massive supply of hosts on the planet. In the end however, Super Earth will more than likely resort to the same solution that was reached in the comic books. Glass the whole goddamned planet with nukes to make sure none of the damn things survive. Because there always seems to be that handfull of eggs or that soldier who's gestation was delayed just enough to get them behind enemy lines. Damned things are worse than cockroaches.

Some other ideas for a vs with the Helldivers universe: Tyranids, Zerg, Flood, Necromorphs (with or without a marker present), Insect Spirits (from Shadowrun), Typhon (from the most recent Prey), and if you wanted something to curb stomp, Borg. Also, for other survival challenge ideas: Can these heroes survive Earth Bet (Parahumans). Can these unpowered survivalists survive Rimworld. Can these people survive Battletech (get people who, whether ambition or heroism, just won't settle down to be farmers or something). And if you are willing to do faction stuff, maybe things like "Can this group survive a Human Covenant war" them replacing the UNSC. Or "Can this Group survive The Clan Invasion", them replacing the BattleTech inner sphere. Or even, "Can this faction survive a Zerg invasion" like in Starcraft 1 or 2. And if you wanted something to challenge people on the more powerful side: "Could they survive a Seraphim invasion" (Supreme Commander).

one problem is that super earth cant black hole any planet at any time, since after the event in game, it was stated in the in game briefing that they used up all there dark fluid supply to do so, so they cant they dont have easy access to planetary destroying weapons as that was there entire supply fro the illuminate from the first galactic war another thing is, super earth cant just end the war whenever they want and its not confirmed they started the 2nd war like how they started the 1st war, the 1st war was started on super earth's side and they fought the bugs for there oil (as well as everyone else who just wanted to be left alone or even work with them), and after they won the first war there was 100 years of peace where they put the bugs in farms, then they broke out and starting the 2nd galactic war. which doesn't paint a picture of super earth continuing a war for power whenever they were already in prefect position of power and were happy to maintain galactic dominance. It paints the picture that super earth now is dealing with the consequences of the first war where they went around kicking everyone they came across, now everyone is back after leg day to kick them. The bugs are now a cosmic horror of space spores that can spread across entire light years and solar systems in the matter of a few short days that super earth cant even get inside without losing contact, and its also unclear now if the bugs make the spores or if the spores make the bug. It was stated in game how they travel is they send spores from one planet to another, and the spores land on the planet and then bugs appear, they dont know how the spores travel faster than light, and how the bugs and spores are related. all this to say that super earth has no control over the bugs in the current situation of the 2nd galactic war and that the war (on the bug side) is about getting them under control and into farms again

The only reason The Thing was really able to be defeated was because they were in the middle of the Antarctic completely separated from most biological life and even then everyone still died. If The Thing starts out on a heavily populated planet or just any area with large amounts of biological life (a Terminid controlled planet would be catastrophic) it will spread like wildfire. Couple that with its ability to assimilate the knowledge and personalities of those it comes into contact with and things will snowball completely out of control in no time and doom the entire galaxy to the point where the Automatons may be our only hope and even then its not guaranteed since by that point The Thing would be able to combat the Automatons using the knowledge and weaponry of Super Earth.

I think that you're actually underestimating The Thing. The horror of The Thing, is that it only takes ONE cell to succesfully infect someone. Plus, where the movie took place was SPECFICALLY chosen, otherwise there would have been NO stopping it. If The Thing showed up in a desert, all it'd have to do is burrow into the ground, and spread through the ENTIRE biosphere. The ONLY place where The Thing wouldn't be able to spread, is the one plavce where the movie took place, and even then, The Thing didn't die, it simply went dormant. If The Thing landed on a terminid planet, all it'd have to do is seep into the ground a spread, and there's nothing anyone would be able to do. Same with an automaton planet. There's HUGE amounts of biomass under the ground that'd be super easy for The Thing to infect, and the next thing youn know, there's a planet-wide mass of The Thing like 2 feet below the entire surface of the planet. Not to mention how Helldivers could get infected. I doubt that a Thing could get through Helldiver armor, but what about AFTER the fight? If the Helldiver doesn't have PERFECT sterilization for their armor, and they take off their armor and accidentally get a single stray Thing cell onto their body, they're compromised. It's actually kinda funny, because I see the Xenomorphs always being wildly overestimated all the time, and The Thing being wildly underestimated all the time, when realistically, The Thing should be nearly impossible to stop, and Xenomorphs should be easy peasy to stop. The ONLY reason the xenomorph in Alien was hard to kill, is because if they used guns, its blood would eat through the hull of the ship, killing everyone. The Thing survived for an estimated 100,000 years frozen in ice before being thawed out with with literally no issues. Plus, The Thing is FAR more intelligent than you give it credit for. It was stated in the movies that only one cell is necessary to infect a person, and that it could spread through food and water. What's to say that it also couldn't spread through air? Release a cloud of cells invisible to the human eye, they get breathed in, and then the person is slowly infected. In my opinion, both Childs and macready were infected by the end of the film, and in the process of being assimilated slowly from the inside. Edit* Actually, it was shown that The Thing was building some kind of ship to try and leave the antarctic. Plus, the alien ship it arrived on DID work, so it's far more than likely that The Thing DOES have knowledge on how to build such an advanced ship, even if the one it was building couldn't go to space, but only existed for atmospheric flight. Another thing, is that you mention that the terminids can breed and grow their numbers, but the Thing can't? You do realize that The Thing has the ability to replicate D.N.A. perfectly, right? This means that it has the potential to become an ENTIRE functional biosphere on its own. It can generate biomass the same way bacteria, algae, plants, etc... can, it can use that generated biomass to make animal-like bioforms, it can eat terminid D.N.A. for stronger muscles, armor, etc... that CAN rip through Helldiver armor. Carpet bombing the planet or sending down Hell divers wouldn't even work, as The Thing can simply hide most of its biomass under the dirt a few dozen meters, and it's be protected from basically everything. The ONLY thing that would result in a victory, for the Helldivers universe, is if the planet that The Thing infected was turned into a blackhole, and no Thing cells managed to get off-world. Otherwise, Helldivers is boned. You are VASTLY underestimating the capabilities of The Thing. All it takes is a single cell. 20:34 It wouldn't matter if they laid waste to the quarantined area, since The Thing could just burrow undergound and infect the deep biosphere, making it LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for the Helldivers or Super Earth to EVER kill the infection. Then from there, it can infect the rest of the planet with no resistance. Like I said, if the initially infected planet isn't turned into a blackhole, there is NO scenarios besides that results in a win for any Helldivers faction. 21:50 Yes, it would be able to bree, because it can replicated the ENTIRETY of a host's D.N.A. PERFECTLY, which includes breeding. the thing is though, it wouldn't NEED to breed. All it'd need to do is split off parts of its biomass to make separate bioforms like it did in the dog kennel. 22:00 No, it CAN get off-planet, as it was shown to still possess the knowledge it had from when the ship it was on crashed into Earth, so given enough time, it could 100% get off of any planet it infects. Wait, what? Did we watch the different Pacific Rims? Weren't the Kaiju bioweapons made by a separate species, and there was a worm-hole portal beneath the ocean that they sent Kaiju through? I thought it was carbon dioxide levels, and not pollution levels that the alien species liked.
@Lorkanthal

The thing would be less breeding and more performing mass cell mitosis in my opinion. It can mimic cells perfectly and give the appearance of function but every cell is just a thing cell in the end disguised as a different cell. They don't actually perform the function they originally were supposed to as seen by the blood fleeing from the heat to save itself. So a thing cell disguised as sperm meeting another disguised as an egg would not merge to form the beginnings of a new life as both are already complete and not halves of the same genome. but it can obviously replicate itself otherwise 1 cell could never infect an entire organism.

You're missing one thing with the Mimics that's important: If you kill the queen, it's dead for good. No time resets at all when the queen dies. Remember, they killed it in Edge of Tomorrow 'in the future' and then went back to the start of the day and the queen was dead. So, if the Helldivers can stop the queen from landing on the planet, say by shooting down asteroids above a certain size as a matter of planetary defense, the invasion is stopped before it begins. There's also that if the attack Super Earth launches against it is powerful enough to reach and kill the queen, the Mimic invasion is dead.

@@rougarabid Dammit, you made me go and do research, my brother in Christ. This'll be a bit long of a post. Now that I've looked things up, I think you're overestimating the Mimic's abilities and underestimating the capabilities of Super Earth to counter the Mimics. The Mimics can't target and destroy the Super Destroyers, nor can they really shut down Eagles from making attack runs. This means the Helldivers have a distinct firepower advantage over the Mimics. They can't even set up ambushes for the arriving Helldivers because the Super Destroyers can bombard the area the pods are landing in to wipe out anything there. The war in EOT is also a much different beast than the war fought between Super Earth and her enemies. In EOT, the war had lasted 5 years and the Mimic only took over Europe. Humanity, going on current military numbers, would have lost about 30 million soldiers of its total military force if it was fighting a war and steadily driven back, including their equipment. That's enough to exhaust most of our modern nations. Even so, the omega felt the need to trick the humans into committing the bulk of their remaining reserve forces in an attack so it could kill them off. That indicates the omega felt there was still a very real chance that the humans could defeat it and keep their planet, otherwise why take the risk of having happen exactly what happened in the movie? My bet is that the omega could only create a drones at a reasonable rate, nowhere near rapid. I'd estimate there were probably somewhere around ten to fifteen million drones on Earth during the movie, with that alpha in the movie being either the only one or one of two or three and being present only at very important battles. Anything more and they'd be overwhelming humanity easily at every stop and there wouldn't be a front line. In Helldivers, for contrast, in the 9 weeks that Malevelon Creek was fought over, 27 million Helldivers died and 376,36 million Automatons were destroyed. Super Earth, the Automatons, and the Terminids are able to throw so many bodies into a battle with the Mimics that they simply cannot keep up in a war of attrition, no matter how many time loops the Mimics do. Being able to loop as much as you like doesn't turn something with a 0% chance of victory into a victory. The individual omegas can extend out the campaigns on each planet they're on using their time bullshit, but they simply will lose wars of attrition on each world until Super Earth realizes that if they kill the omega, they kill the infestation. At that point each planet's battle turns into a pitched defense of the omega in one or two battles, allowing Super Earth to focus as many Helldivers on that one battle in that one day as needed to win.

I'm fairly certain that a average Super Earth Citizen is similar to Helldivers loyalty where if some are infact infected on a society, the most democratic citizen can just see some sort of treason with how it tries to mimic the undying loyalty they have, because no amount of manenrism even when it touches the memory of the victim will give the same passion they have for super earth. (This may as well be wrong because what I said as well where it just imitates the person from there memories, mannerism and characteristics, but I am certain an they could not mimic there loyalty to super earth, which is what makes it or breaks it for me)
