So, I live in the country where Action Park was/is (now mountain creek) and I can attest for the rides being dangerous. The motor world side had been closed, so it was only water rides. But I absolutely smacked my head on the Colorado River Rapids, the Tarzan swing water was absolutely freezing and the 10+ foot drop on the one ride sucked. That super steep slide with the cage to knock you back onto the slide was still there and rebranded as "H2OhNo". The cliff jump, it was absolutely easy to have someone jump on top of you, pretty sure I saw it happen. This is in the late 90's.... I still remember having a good time tho.

My dad loved Action Park as a kid. He said he and his friends were amazed even as children that they were allowed to have the attractions they had. Apparently they would routinely go to the park, especially to the wave pool, and come out bruised and scratched and loved every minute of it. The concrete slide in particular would destroy you.

The classic Charlotte hornets in the 90s moved to New Orleans to become the new Orlean hornets. Then a new franchise popped up in Charlotte called the Charlotte bobcats. Later, the New Orleans hornets changed their name to the New Orleans pelicans. Now that the opportunity was open, the Charlotte bobcats then changed their name to the Charlotte hornets, and bought the “hornets history” from the New Orleans pelicans.

Paused this to watch the Class Action Park documentary. The closing line is: “A lot of kids who grew up in the 80s, they will talk shit and tell stories. And with beers in them it’s about how funny and fucked up it was. But when they are with their shrink it’s just about how fucked up it was. But a lot of things were back then...” Damn.

Class Action Park is still kind of open. It's called Mountain Creek and most of those rides were still open about 10 years ago. That seemed like something glossed over in the documentary, a lot of this stuff is still there!

I don't have that "back to the future" type of nostalgia feeling for the times I grew up in. Yeah, its twenty years or so ago, thirty if you want to hit the teen years, but I grew up in a time with the promise of better things like we have now in the 2010-2020s. I'd don't really long for the giant tethered phones, the mismash of boxy cars to concept car designs *stupid retro cybertruck...., the way grocery and retail stores use to be, the infancy of delivery services and their costs.... Maybe I would be happier to be younger now, then go back to then.

I understand what they are saying about the guy that tested positive for covid but at same time it’s kinda like if you were positive 6 months ago and are asymptotic now like there are chances it was a false positive. Also I’m not sure if that’s case or not so take that with a grain of salt lol. I’m just saying I know how media reacts right away and then things are explained what really happened after. In this case I don’t know lol I’m just reacting

I don't fully understand the details, but the explain it like im 5 explanation of national debt is not just like a credit card that the US has racked up. It is more based around the ability for anyone/any country to buy Stock in the US (treasury securities). At a high level if everyone cashed in their securities the US would owe that money, but the fact that they have these securities and they are paying interest (just like any investments) is why they wont all cash in. People and countries trust the US economy (in general) to keep paying these dividends on the investment. If all of the US debt was too be cashed in on there would be a bigger world economy problem sign. I know that isn't all of what makes up our national debt, but it is a major piece of the pie. We actually want some level of national debt because it shows that other entities trust in our economy.
