@@l.k5244 I've been to both. I think Bald would get much better content out of Cuba, since you can travel freely in Cuba. In the DPRK it's great but heavily guided. Lots of people have done videos on the DPRK, and Bald wouldn't be able to make the best out of it. If you do go to Cuba the most interesting place to go in my experience was Baracoa, which is the first place that Columbus landed on. Also on the far east of the island, absolute paradise. Followed by Moa which is the most industrial town in Cuba, definitely worth a look.
@monarchofthesea9395

@@castorchua Cuba's dead cheap if you stay out of resorts. The ticket to get there is expensive from the UK, but all in all the price of things is very cheap. The trick is to stay in BnBs "Casas De Particulares" I think. They've got two currencies in Cuba, one for tourists and one for locals. If you go off the beaten path, then you can use local money, which just makes it a bargain.

So pleased to watch a video made in Chelyabinsk. Maybe I'm one of the few British viewers who knows of this place; not because I've been there, but because, about 10 years ago, I taught a lad and his younger sister from this city. He was a terrific character, too, by the name of Igor Khlyzov, but I called him 'my Russian bear' (- when I said goodbye to him on his last day at the school he lifted me up in the air, and gave me such a hug that he nearly cracked my ribs!!). He was very proud of his city, and gave me a souvenir book (in Russian, of course!). I told him that, one day, maybe, I will meet him in Chelyabinsk! I haven't travelled to Russia yet, but I still hope to. Thanks for another wonderful slice of ordinary life in Russia.

it's true what NFKRZ said, it's awesome you decided to ask that question, about what particularly the older generation in former Soviet cities and towns think about that past life. as an American, the Soviet Union is endlessly fascinating. both for it's positives and negatives. so it was cool that you asked that. 12:17. Great stuff.

As a Russian born (not far from chelyabinsk), I understand why - Ben could get him into trouble. Not so many people in the streets are in the same jolly mood as Ben and can simply rough him and especially his Russian company up. Ben's playful conduct will be taken negatively by many. Its different mentality, ppl are not very open minded there. Besides, they are brainwashed like in the soviet times and blame the west for everything. Ben wanted gopnicks and Chelyabinsk is the right place.

This brought back many memories from when I lived there. You needed to talk about the Mayak nuclear distaster. Chelyabinks is the first Chernobyl. It also was a closed city. My hair began to fall like crazy in that city and my gumline receded quite a bit. I made the mistake of drinking local water and ate locally grown food. It's a big no no for foreigners. I spent close to a year in that city.

It's the same as the west.. ask an American or Brit.. What was life like in the 70's and 80s and they will tell you that the 80s under Regan/Thatcher were a much better place to be in than today's Neo Liberal SJW age. NKRZ says that you would wait in queue to buy a TV, but Bald responded w/ but can you even buy one today. Same w/ the west, TV's in the 80s were not cheap and it took years before an average person could get a computer, Sony TV(etc). So it's not like all Americans could afford tech in the 80s like we can today (w/ assistance of CREDIT)
