I moved to Pittsburgh as a kid in 1941, and living in Brookline / Dormont I grew to LOVE Pgh. My Mother and Dad lived in Brentwood Villa until they passed away and when I sold the family home I said "One day I will come back". I would move to Pgh tomorrow to spend my last days and I think I would like to move to one of the older homes on Grandview Ave. Maybe even Chatem Village. I live in a garden spot now, Medford Oregon but the call of the city is always there. I think living downtown would be great. My Mother always wanted to buy a condo in the Pennsylvania RR Station when they were first finished but Dad said "NO". I always wanted to live at 1000 Grandview Ave (by the radio tower) because it was the best view of all. If you have never traveled to the end of Granview do so one day and you will see what I mean. Smile Pittsburgh, your still the best. Carl

I love this video. The thing that's missing, in my view, is an acknowledgment that Pittsburgh maintained a huge retail district years way beyond most cities. As that was making it's exit, The Cultural District emerged. Actually, they did coexist for a short time. Also, I met Liz Kaplan in 2006. If I remember correctly, she moved to Pittsburgh from Baltimore. We talked about how Downtown was showing renewed energy but Pittsburghers were slow to admit it. When I was transferred in 1987, Kaufmann's, Gimbel's, Horne's and Sak's department stores were the centerpieces of wonderful shopping that lasted until early 2002. Reinventing itself is what Pittsburgh does. I'm so proud of it. BTW, there is still plenty of retail Downtown.

When I lived in Downtown Pittsburgh in 1969-70, the streets were deserted after six PM. If you were walking there at night the police would slow down in their squad cars to check you out. A few placed like Eat and Park would be open late or all night, but that would be about it.

I did not live in Pittsburgh But I did live in Butler, I was born and raised in Butler, My husband was from Prospect, we lived in Butler Area for a few years after we were Married but we moved out of State and raised our Children out of Pa. I enjoyed every time we would go visit was so nice to go home, it has been a long time since the last time I was at Home. Now My Home is South Yes it is always great weather but there is always the 4 seasons you always think about as time goes by. I happened to find this site by accident, and I am happy I did.

I love my city but honestly living downtown? I always thought that was weird. All the retail has moved out and there is far less to do theses days. maybe 10 years ago. Back in the 80's there was a night life.

Fantastic how Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle transformed from a dirty, smoky nightmare to a sparkling base for many Fortune 500 companies!! Philip Johnson's PPG Place is the ingenious crown jewel of the Golden Triangle.

Ghoul World Order Just because people are prideful of where they live doesn’t mean they are zombies. Trust me, there’s a lot of political pushbacks, protests, you name it. It’s not as great as these videos make it out to be, but it’s still a city that the people can get behind.

Pittsburgh swells to 140,000 workers daily compared to 100,000 in Kansas City. Bless your little hearts, you're trying to fill the void as best you can. LMAO Maybe we should call it Cansas City.
