Dont trust the marks on your axle blocks. I had mine aligned and had bad chain noise. Then I bought a laser alignment tool and found out that the rear wheel was no where near straight. Aligned it by the laser set the chain tension slack to the tightest within spec. Now my chain is smooth & quiet (2019 WR250R)

service manual says chain tension is 8-13 mm from the swing arm just behind the kick stand. hope this helps, I also have a bounce seems to be a non-problem

This call chain slap it's very common with single cylinder engines in the powerstroke things you need check one them is Improper chain tension, take some more chain slack and chain alignment is also important, last check your swing arm bushings this can also cause excessive chain slap as torque is being applied to rear wheel.

I have the exact same issue with my motorcycle and have had it since I bought it. I replaced the chain and sprockets a hundred miles after I bought my bike which only had six thousand miles on it. I noticed it with the old chain and I noticed it with the new chain. I want for my stock gear ratio to a 14-48 and 112 link chain and just switch to a 13-48 and still have the same issue. I have been beating my head against the wall on this one for the last 6 months. Did you ever find out what fixed it?!

Hey Thanks for replying! I have not completely eliminated it yet. But the 112 Link chain combined with 14 tooth front and 48 rear was the worst combination to run if you have this problem. It didn't get much better with a 47 rear, but it did with a 13 front, you're sayign you went to the 13 front and it didn't get any better? The next thing I have to try is to lengthen my chain to 114, or just try someone elses rear wheel. I have tried everything else.

HotCoco yeah man I went from a 1448 to a 1348 and still had about the same amount of vibration. All it did was change what speed started probably because of the gear ratio difference. I tried running the chain super loose as well as super tight and still that did not make a difference. I checked my wheel alignment both by the marks as well as using a dial Caliper.

Does it also give an intermittent vibration in the handlebars? Like every one or two seconds.

You're bike is trash, I'll take it off your hands for $1000. So you can buy 1 with a belt. Lol it's nothing to sweat bro. Changes in chain tension due to suspension flex, throttle & even the chain links themselves aren't gonna have equal movement. An o- ring chain may calm it down. All in all it's normal. That's why your bike has a chain guide.

I have a 2020 with the exact same issue. Had the bike 2 summers. Never had a issue last summer, started this spring about a month ago. Check chain tension, good, check chain alignment, good, check sprockets and chain, all good...I'm stumped, and I wouldn't care but it is noisy as hell when it starts to bounce, not to mention that much bounce can't be good for chain life or the chain guides...anyone figures out how to fix that would be great.

Sort of, combination of 14 tooth sprocket and 112 link chain seems to have been a problem. I shortened the chain by two links and the bounce was reduced. It still happens though not as much.

Did you sort it out? I tried a worn rusted 530 chain, but to no avail.

I never really got it sorted out, I made more chain tension adjustments and got it better but 15,000 miles on the bike and the chain still bounces and doesn't really cause any problems.

@@crazy1russian, what gearing are you using? Did you try the 14-49 combo and 114 links? The thing is that on the road it vibrates a lot, not an issue off road.
