@Th3magicnumb3r MTF is a term for a trans person who was born a boy who is now transitioning into a girl. MTF stands for male to female. There's also FTM, which is a girl transitioning into a boy. It stands for female to male. Hope this helps :)

As a older trans woman, 52, who grew up in a family that would never have understood back when I was a teen. This song hits me in so many ways. Sitting here balling my eyes out. I wish there was a way for everyone to hear this and to understand the emotions that it carries for people like me. I think if more people could hear it, they possibly would begin to understand, but unfortunately modern radio will never play this so all I can do is share it wherever I can with as many people as I can. It's funny how such a small change of words can change the effect this song has in me... The original already makes me cry every single time I listen to it, because it was never about the gender, but the message. Still, this change is so powerfull... Every single line is for me now. This means so much. Thank you.
@HelloHamburger

They just change the long hair and makeup line and that's it. It's such a powerful song and that line is the only thing that doesn't fit for any trans or gender non-conforming person who is unaccepted. Well, not every single person but most anyone with relatives or friends or society who isn't accepting of your gender or presentation could likely relate.

The hair line will always be what destroys me. My hair to me is the best way i express myself, and yet its the thing that always gets the most judgement. I have no other way to express myself openly where i live without risk of utter ostracism and expulsion from my society, my sickened village. Every day im told to cut it, to style it differently, to have “a man’s haircut.” I’m constantly told “that hair doesn’t belong on a man like you.” “If i had a pair of clippers id cut it for ya if ya would like.” “Go ahead and chop that off if i could.” It’s not insults many mean to make, but after hearing it millions of times it adds up. Its become such a degrading and restricting thing to me that the littlest way of expression of my identity is even shunned. Something that shouldn’t be anyone elses decision beside my own is being constantly demeaned. Now what if i took hrt? What if i wore feminine clothes? What remarks then? What would i be told then? What harassment would i undergo? What threats against my life would be made? It’s all things that would help me feel more comfortable with who i am and this feeble body of mine. But in reality, im just stuck being with the norm.

My message to the people reading this, keep fighting for our rights, no one on this planet can tell you otherwise, you lot are brave strong individuals. The world wouldn’t be the same place without you lot. Have a good day and remain strong you lot, it will get better

my sister is trans, male to female, and while our parents are not homophobic or transphobic, but some of our "relatives" are, and a lot of people, in schools in the city, in public places and so long... This song kinda reminds me of the time when she would come from school (she's 1 year older than me) and just cry because of how awful people were, and I was just calming her down all the time.. I always did her makeup, cuz I was born female and I knew stuff, I taught her a lot on how to be a woman and stuff, but at some point she even started cutting herself, and even needed to take therapy and medications. Luckily, she's much better now. I had kind of alike problems, because while my sister is trans, I'm lesbian and I wish when we first came out we heard this song a lot and stuff. I shared it to my sister, and she's crying while listening to it. So thank you so much for this song..

My dad told me that if I came out to my grandma (his mom), that she'd have a heart attack. I came out to her last October, and after a short conversation, she got out her quilting supplies and we designed a trans quilt together (it's gonna have blue, pink, and white flowers on it)! And last christmas, she gave a necklace to each of her granddaughters-including me 🥹 For anyone out there reading this who's planning on coming out to someone but is scared of how they'll react, please remember that they just might surprise you :) my grandfather is a 75-year-old cishet white Catholic man who grew up on a farm in the rural midwest, and he accepted me faster than my own parents did ❤

This song makes me cry so hard but also helps me know that even if members of my family don't accept me that I know I'm truly loved just for being me. So thank you so much for this version🏳️⚧️

Thank you for this beautiful song. Its strangely harrowing, sorrowful and beautiful at the same time. It really helped me during a vulnerable time. I've always tried to be a man for my family since they've given so much to me. I love them dearly and would give the world to them if i could for their love and sacrifice throughout the years. But I always knew they wouldn't accept and love me as the woman I wanted to desperately be since 16 years old. And now at 30, even after I told them, the rejection, fear, and especially the questioning and accusing tore my heart apart. I was in an extremely dark place and I almost didn't make it out. As i started to heal I heard this song and, while it did reopen some wounds, its helping me move forward. I still feel like a freak and know this rift between me and the people I dearly love may never heal, but I believe I'd like to pursue my happiness. Thank you again for the beautiful song.

To all those who've been shunned by family because of this I'm your family now. Stay hydrated, brush your teeth, be kind. And remember, I am proud of you.
