So much to love about this interview - so good that it really focusses on the act of writing - takeaway for me was 'the theme emerges from the restraint' - he doesn't know what it is for a while, then it (the theme reveals itself. Thank you.

First read Saunders in 2005 and my first reaction was: wow, you can write crazy stuff?

Probably it's a stupid thing to say but I am so grateful to Mr.Saunders for his deep understanding of Russian and slavic culture during these hard times for our country, fighing ignorance and hypocrisy, for me Russia and Ukraine both still remain parts of the Soviet union love and peace
