Wow. This is actually really nice. I was “watching” this at my current job, so I wasn’t able to really see the screen since I was working but even just listening answered some questions I had on not only what to put in my case study, but how to illustrate a d explain it. I’m transitioning into UX and creating a portfolio for the first time in years a d it’s truly overwhelming. Thanks for this, will be using these tips to finish my portfolio!

1-Tell about the project, what did u do in the project rather than why u started the project. 2- check typing mistakes 3- put the features in the "what is paytm" section 4- mention what reviews u saw in primary research.

I disagree to you where you said to keep questions close ended. If you keep it close ended, people will give you typical answers, you are unknowingly guiding them to a specific answer. Rather give them open ended questions so that they are not guided or biased and give you some useful points.

I totally agree. It is crucial to ask open ended questions because each user uses his/her experiences when answering such questions. If you ask them close-ended questions, the answers will not give you any insights on how a user thinks or uses a product.

true. even i was a bit confused when they said this. interviews usually employ mostly open ended question so that the interviewee can elucidate better. On the other hand a survey is best with close ended questions to collate a large data stack of 4-5 types of responses.

I searched for a useful Case Study review, and your video is one of the few appearing on research. My question is, why you choose this project to review? It has lots of problems, even more than fundamental ones. You could analyze an example project that could help us a lot.

A very 'pain to the eye' case study I must say😅. That's what happens when newbies focus more on the visual side of a case study but in reality I think case study show the mindset of a designer, there should be more focus on 'problem - solution' pairs and these pairs act as the real content. Designs and mock-ups make the REAL content beautiful and consumable. What's your say on this Chethan?

That’s ok. You can be humble. Everybody is learning and this is a process. Do not distance yourself from new designers as if u have never been in their place. Appreciate that he tried. Our design community must uplift others. Provide constructive feedback

"Light" apps are basically the stripped down versions of the pre-existing app and only carry out the basic functions of it. Would've been a lot better had he only kept the major functions like adding money and making payments and recharges and gotten rid of the rest.

Okay... After going through the case study, I found out many loopholes but it seems like it has been designed by a newbie, who just got excited to build or redesign an app. Unfortunately, he picked the wrong application because Paytm is doing really well with its User interface. It can literally be seen how the designer has taken the design decision without doing proper research and analysis. He is lacking to identify the actual problems too! Poor thing bouy.... All I would like to tell you is, you really need to work hard in order to get a real eye of a UX designer. If you are ready to hold yourself accountable then only you can become successful in this career. best of Luck :)

While i agree with most of the feedback you gave on the case study , but your point about having more close ended questions than open ended questions is plain wrong. Having open ended questions fetches more insights, detailed responses from a user which can then be analysed. Having more of close ended questions will simple put a constraint on the user to not give out his/her feedback in depth. Great feedback on the overall case study though

UI & UX case studies must NEVER reveal the clients names especially in case studies. The clients can be hijacked by your competitors. Case Studies are of low value and importance as there are hardly any clients who come to your business by reading your case studies.
