I publish the version for the BBC in my possession on the occasion of the Master's birthday.
Best wishes Vittorio!
I had the honor of collaborating on this documentary in 1992, shooting some parts with my Aaton Super16 LTRX. In particular, I remember the emotion when the Master told his History of Cinematography, (see 52'.03") at that moment I was the first viewer: through the optical viewfinder of the camera, with the flickering of the shutter, in complete Photochemical system, without video-assist. My director Massimo Magrì trusted me, certainly at the stop, after more than 3 minutes of shooting, which is a lot when you are in the room, the film turns and the battery runs out, he would have asked me "how was it?". 'Good Massimo'.
For reasons of © I had to cut:
13'14" to 14"25" 1' 11" scene from Apocalypse Now. It was about the arrival of Willard's boat to a village where a US propaganda crew is shooting, Coppola and Storaro are part of it. (strange because it's in the film), and an approximately 50" shot of Kurtz / Brando where his bald skull goes in and out of the shadows. (out take of the film)
