I doubt it. US playets will never be in a global pool. Other markets like Asia are much bigger than than US. The biggest online poker boom is now. Much bigger than 2000s boom.

I tried the VR poker one time while at a friends house. My kids were over there as well and my neighbor set it up for me. I put the headset on and was sitting at a poker table with a bunch of random people. This was pretty cool, I was figuring out what to do and suddenly everyone got mad at me. "Who is that?" Then someone across the table from me pointed at me and then jammed their hand through my virtual face. Apparently our kids were being loud and could be heard by everyone. OOPS! I ripped the headset off totally freaked out and haven't tried it since 😂

Great video. I feel like a ranking system such as ELO/MMR in Poker just doesn’t have much value though, and any skilled player would be against it. A big part of Poker is having an edge right? As in, playing against opponents which underestimate the skill gap between themselves and other players. Maybe I’m just being harsh, but I don’t see any incentive for bringing this skill gap to light.
@twistedspine7300
Жыл бұрын
i agree with you, i don't understand the appeal of an ELO system at all. if someone voluntarily sits at a table and i know that i'm a much better player, am i really doing something wrong by sitting at the same table? should i be forced to be matched up against similar skill levels? i think that would kill poker. the point of the game is to make money, and i didn't force their hand. i think the ELO thing comes from top players who have large ego's (not necessarily phil) and think everyone wants to watch the best players compete but i have no interest in that and i don't care how i stack up against the rest of the world. i'm not interested in seeing who has the bigger penis or entertaining people on live streams.

Great video! A while back you mentioned something about a mindset coach suggesting you say "yes" anytime an opponent asked if you had "x" hand if you weren't comfortable talking about your hand/strat in game. I've since tried it out and it's a fun way to get people to stop asking you what you had!

I've looked into making a poker chess clock and I have the planned advancements for 2nd generation of it for making tournament directors' lives easier. What I don't have is the capital to get started. I even have a great name for it. Everyone whom I personally know who programs for a living says "that would be fairly simple, you can figure it out" and the person whom I know who owns a programming company wanted a lot of money up front to get started (quote was $10k, two years ago, so I don't know what it would be today) It would have to be user friendly and automated and programmed to skip people who folded and/or were all in for the later streets. I have it mapped out and I have put a lot of thought into it. Every time I hear there is a demand for it I look at my notes for it. I even have a kickstarter commercial planned out, but I don't have a production company or enough friends to shoot it myself and then try to figure out editing.

Poker stars vr has two main problems. The first is that the controls were clunky so you could not be precise in your chip bet. The second was that with pretend money everyone bet everything.

web cams for highest stakes feels like a simple, implementable idea to give much more security for the player pool. Granted it doesn't sort RTA but it stops ghosting and reduces chances of collusion (i.e. people on the phone to other players).
@UncleBenjs

Pokerstars has great security and spots this anyway. I've gotten multiple refunds randomly along with an email explaining that there had been collusion in some games and as a result I'm being reimbursed. They're on top of that or so it seems.
