As an old-head Ram from the 80's, I am proud to be a RAM. What a GREAT Performance! I've been reading all the comments w/the cheerleaders embarrasing A&T cheerleaders at the game. I'm sure after this performance we shut them UP! Keep up the good work! We're sure to win 1st place next year, they can't hate on us forever!

WSSU is the only team that has advanced this quickly during a transition. I would've liked to have seen more of what makes us WSSU. We are the best in stomp-n-shake and we have always incorporated stunts, tumbling, and great dancing with it. I would love to see a routine next year that still gives you all of that. We can win being who we are! We don't have to assimilate. That's part of what makes us crowd pleasers and exciting! Who else can go to A&T and hush a booing crowd but CHEER PHI!

WSSU did a fantastic job their first year competing! There could have been more tumbling and a higher level of difficulty in the stunts. I've seen and have been in more complex pyramids than the ones they chose to put in the routine. So, I know they are capable. But hey, it's WS so they are capable of anything! I was so proud of them! The flyer that was asked about was injured and could not compete. Next year will be amazing, I'm sure! Cheer Phi!!!! WSSU Alumni Cheerleader WSSU Class of 05

NCCU will definitely be a crowd pleaser. Don't sleep! They have always had hot dances and creative cheerleading beats and unique routines and moves I have personally seen first hand. Of course FSU coach would be fair that was my point but because she comes from a stomp-n-shake history she's not gonna hate on it because she understands it along with the other aspects of cheerleading. Doing it ALL again includes doing what your signature LEGACY is and what you are best at and everything else.

Yes we can do anything that they can do but we have something they don't! See in all honesty to completely understand our tradition one has to know that it is advanced cheerleading. The majority of WSSU cheerleaders have done traditional cheerleading all of their lives but when they came to WSSU they had to adjust to learn the syle not cuz they were dumbing down but because they were stepping it up. We have to know our own worth. Just thoughts for next year to improve doing what we do!

Let's get an understanding. Everytime WSSU steps out to perform be it the CIAA or MEAC it was looked at like a competition. Just because the CHEEROCRACY didn't give out accolades didn't mean that our mindset wasn't that. That's why I keep stressing that we don't have to abandon what makes us who we are. What WSSU has always done has always won over the crowd sweetie from boos to cheers! We make the rules and set the pace. We've NEVER JUST shaked CHECK YOUR WSSU CHEER PHI HISTORY BOOK

Constructive criticism is always a good thing. The minority opinion in most cases becomes the majority opinion. NC A&T did do a good job, their theme music had to grow on me, however I was a little turned off with the pony tails and bows. They left the door open for WSSU when they did not execute one of their stunts well and had WSSU been able to deliver a flawless routine they would have taken first. Big ups to them for their showing in the MEAC and placing 2nd while making the transition.

thats because in the MEAC you have to have atleast 3 males to compete in the co-ed division they only had to so they had to compete in the all girls division..

yeah NCCU would add more fuel to the fire but until they start back stunting, A&T & WSSU will be the 2 best in all girls

I am so pround of Cheer Phi. WSSU has never ever competed ever! Its a big deal to get 2nd. As a certified safety judge, its always better to be clean, tight without a trick then messy and unstable with a trick. The MEAC teams need to take that in for next year. Most of the teams couldn't stick the tricks. You get points based on difficulty but if its too difficult for you, you're left with??? Nothing. See SU alums at Homecoming on the field. Congrats to A&T for a job well done! CHEER PHI

Speaking of NEW UNIFORMS!!! UCDE has teamed up with Apple Bottoms by Nelly to bring Apple Bottom University Cheerleading Line. For all teams interested for a limited time their coaches need to contact me or reply to my email asap! Apple Bottoms is offering free UNIFORMS and APPAREL for cheerleading squads. The uniforms are for the ENTIRE SQUAD! This will free up moneys in team budgets for other things and allow teams to actually sample these new items first hand! Emails will go out Friday!

Don't think that because Coach Miller a CIAA coach was one of the judges she would have favored or not favor a former CI school. Coach Miller is and will always be a fair judge either way. Besides just like any competition there are rules on stunts that teams are not allowed to perform but as far as I know there is not a rule against incorporating stomping and shaking. I guess teams just try to be traditional as possible since it's competition. So I understand cavettaj's point.

Don't get me wrong I completely understand what you are saying all I'm saying is there could have been 20 seconds of straight shaking carved out like for instance in your "Give Me Body Dance" that was fire!! You can always push the envelope and carve out your own niche. You had Lawanda Miller of FSU judging yal would not have been penalized for it. Look at the other routines that aspect would have even had other team alums cheering for yal hands down. Give it to em! It will make a difference

I just disagree. I am not saying don't do any of the partner or difficult stunting, jumps or tumbling. What I am saying is at points where you can visably incorporate it such as in the dance or in the beginning of the cheer do so. WSSU would have done great at the MEAC regardless. We have always been versatile with stunts and tumbling yal just added more. How can you ever look stupid being who you are? That is what made WSSU the icons we are because we combined it ALL!

Morgan State: MEAC COMPETITION 2008 by americandream1 tells Y Winston got 2nd duh??? From a professional, COACH CHEERLEADER, GYM DIRECTOR & JUDGE...If U drop her U will lose. U can 360 & layout in a tumbling pass all day but if U drop her, U will lose. Dismounts R not that great N points & single bases R big N points. Joe knows the point scale. WSSU knows how 2 get the points N please the crowd. That wins trophies! MSU would have had it but they dropped & had no crowd support. C U Saturday

It's not about being who you are... because if we weren't we would have stop shaking and doing what we do! But what I was saying is that it would look stupid... COMPETING in a competition that doesn't stomp and shake! To when you have to do what they do and do it better BUT still be you! Which is what we did.... lol!! I feel you in some kinda way... lol!!

We are in a COMPLETELY different world than what we use to do. So we must let them know... ANYTHING you throw... WE CAN DO!! That's why we did so good @ the competition... but the shakes AND jiggle pops were there... watch is closely!! 1:17- 32
