Here are some bits taken from a recording of the former WTAF (now WTXF, channel 29, broadcasting out of Philadelphia) made in July of 1985. I think it was a Saturday morning.
First up is a promo for The Ropers, voiced by announcer Dennis Malloy, as is the following Taft Broadcasting station ID. The "Western Movie" open is next, with Malloy doing the intro for that day's flick, "Mail Order Bride" from MGM. (The music is an excerpt from Leonard Bernstein's "Grand Canyon Suite III: On the Trail.")
A "Theater Bizarre" promo is next (for that afternoon's double feature, "How to Make a Monster" and "First Spaceship to Venus"), then a "we will return" bump. Star Search '85 was airing their second round of semi-finals at 5pm. (Then-unknowns Rosie O'Donnell and John Kassir can be glimpsed in this promo.)
Next is a Krazy Glue ad that combines new footage--for the KG Pen--with old, and a local business slide at the end. White Cap cleaner was around for years, known for its powerful pine scent, but it appears it's been discontinued. One last movie bump closes out the video.
No rights held or implied. (If you'd like this video removed for copyright reasons, please contact me rather than notifying KZitem, I will gladly take it down from this channel.) This is on compilation 69 at oldtvads.blogspot.com...
