When Jonathan Taylor Thomas was first guest starring on Tim Allen's later sitcom Last Man Standing back in March 2013, Tarah Noah Smith's (Mark on Home Improvement) mother wrote an interesting comment on TV Line. She said that the story about him leaving Home Improvement for college was a flat out lie. In reality, JTT left because he wanted to be an "independent actor". But when his movies, such as I'll Be Home for Christmas, flopped, his mom forced him into college. According to Tarah's mom, JTT's mother suffers from ‘Narcissistic Sociopath Disorder’. Basically, she alleged that JTT's mom was very controlling (like a "sick" control) and consequently, he never got a chance to learn how to socialize. For example, Jonathan couldn't bring friends to the set for tapings like everybody else could. The only time that he could socialize was to speak to adults as a means of furthering his career. The cast of Home Improvement were actually happy when they left the show due to all of the hell that they put everyone through. Jonathan is pretty much a recluse now because he just doesn't want to be bothered.

It really depends on the type of parents... Thats why a lot of child stars eventually end up in the gutter, they cant handle the fame and the pressure but are constantly being pushed by their parents because the parents either see them as a meal ticket or because the parents didnt have the same opportunities when they were kids so they force their own kids to do things so they can live their dreams through their children. The saying _"I'm your mom/dad - I know whats best for you"_ isnt always true...

I think part of the problem with audiences not being ready to see serious roles from post Home Improvement JTT was the difference in his breakout role compared to someone like Brad Renfro. Audiences came to know and love JTT through Randy Taylor. While they gave him more serious storylines later in the series, like the cancer scare episode, being known as the wise cracking middle child of Tim Allen’s Tim Taylor for so many years is the exact opposite of Brad Renfro coming onto the scene opposite Susan Surandon and Tommy Lee Jones in The Client.

Walking Across Egypt is a very weird movie. I watched it 3 times at a sleepover once (my friends were asleep, I couldn't sleep, and I didn't know how to work the DVD player). I've never watched it since 😂.

As a child, I never realized that in Home Improvement all 3 boys are blonde and the parents are brunettes I think as the kids got older, their hair was more dirty blonde but when they were little little kids, their hair was super light

you might not have noticed because it's common for boys with blonde hair to darken up when they get older. Happens in women too. Regardless that tends to be why no one thinks twice about blonde kids belonging to brunette parents, many of those brunettes were blond when they were their children's age

@@saribeepo.o5111 Yes, that’s true but another reason is because Patricia Richardson wasn’t originally cast as Jill. There was a different woman who had blond hair, and the kids were all cast based on her and Tim. Then the producers and Tim realized the chemistry with his wife wasn’t right, so they recast the role.

Tom & Huck.... classic. My friend was in love with JTT and I was in love with Brand Renfro so of course we watched Tom & Huck about 1000 times lol Say what you will, I still think I'll be Home For Christmas is great. Cheesy? Of course but it's a lot more fun than most of the Christmas movies nowadays. I do think JTT made the right choice with not doing American Pie. That movie was a brief amusement to many but most of that cast didn't have lasting careers - Allison Hannigan being the exception.
