You can see why John Oliver is such a genuinely nice person by how his father is. Choosing to help the roughest kids at the toughest schools and getting results. Prioritising that over financial gain and a cushier job shows remarkable character.

The great thing about self deprecating humour is that its so much easier to find the universality in it. If he was making fun of somebody else, I would likely want to protect that person and call him an a hole. But the fact that he is joking about himself lets your guard down and you can find the commonality in it. I think MOST boys probably have memories like that, which makes you really wonder what the fuck thats all about.

What's the history between John Stewart and Marc? Why is he trying to get John to say something negative about him?
@jenfine
5 жыл бұрын
stephjovi Marc used to talk shit about Jon because he was jealous of his success. He later admitted it. He’d openly call him a sellout because he had tv shows like short attention span theater, which Marc ironically worked on after Jon left. Jon doesn’t like Marc to this day for that shit but I think Marc regrets acting that way. Marc talked about it in an interview a few years back.

Did you listen to the interview? Early on he tells us he was born in Birmingham and raised in Bedford, near London. His family are from Liverpool. What you hear in his voice is nothing at all like a Liverpudlian accent. To say you hear Beatles in his voice is like a Brit saying he hears Elvis in Winton Marsalis's voice.
