Are you me? I lived up in CT back in that era, and I watched Transformers loyally every day on channel 20. I totally forgot about TX Critter, too.

I miss WTXX and the 80s. Cartoons and don't forget Tales From The Darkside in the evening.

This is awesome! I lived in New Haven from '83 - '91 (I was 4 - 13) and Channel 20 was pretty much my first choice for cartoons back in those days. Every so often I search KZitem for WTXX because there's a particular station ad where the song really stuck in my head over the years, and even though you didn't have it here, just seeing all this vintage Channel 20 stuff made me very happy, so thank you 😁

It's possible I have it on a tape but I've not gone through all my things and the quality on some of these old tapes is quite poor. I wonder if KZitem already has just about every commercial already, it's just a matter of finding what you're looking for. I might be removing commercials from this channel soon in an attempt to get monetization back. I'm still undecided but have to do it this month if I'm going to before my channel is reviewed again. If I do that I might just toss all the commercials up on a new channel as I do have more, especially of those that don't fit the themes of this channel so you may end up finding that WTXX Star Trek ad again in a different place next time you search.

@@Vault1541 well if you do put them up on another channel, I'll no doubt find it again because I search for this thing every few months or so :) And I know what you mean about the tapes, I still have about a dozen or so, several of which are full of Star Trek episodes from channels 20 and 61 that I used to tape for my mother when she was at work. Not only are they really showing their age, but the worst part is that most of them don't even have commercials, since of course we didn't want those at the time. Now I really wish I'd left them in!

@@jeffkiska The timing seems odd but that commercial just got blocked on my channel after Paramount Global put a copyright claim on it. It's so old and doesn't even show any official Star Trek footage so I doubt Paramount would ever use it for anything now (plus I thought it was WTXX that made it or at least did the narration on it). Oh well, maybe I should give up on commercials and not place them on another channel. I hadn't expected copyright claims on those but maybe I should have. The claims I typically see are for video game music.

Wow, KZitem's copyright system is really broken. I think most of the footage was VFX shots from the first three Star Trek movies, so I guess I can see how their bots would identify it, but they're like half-second clips completely out of context. Even the few friends I shared it with who are also Trek fans thought it was just generic sci-fi stuff. Plus it's literally an advertisement for one of Paramount's shows, which I'm sure they still make money off of even though it's been off the air for 30 years. Seems like it's more beneficial to them to just let people see it. I know most of this is done by automated systems but you'd think an actual person would look at it at some point and realize that it's just a 30-second commercial from 1987 that's not infringing on them in any real way. Glad I got to see it again, at least, but it sucks that channels like yours have to deal with so much hassle just to be able to share something as harmless as a vintage commercial.

I didn’t have cable in the late 1980s (they wouldn’t come to our house so my parents relied on rabbit ears.) Needless to say WTXX after school was pretty much my wind down. Whatever was on. Heathcliff and Scooby Doo were my favorites, was not pleased when they changed the lineup periodically. Watched my fair share of Transformers, He-Man and nearly identical She-Ra, was not a fan of Thundercats. TX Critter was not exactly cool but this was also the age when going to Chuck E Cheese was a good birthday party! Not related but also have fond memories of the Naugatuck Valley Mall and Betsy Ross Diner in Waterbury, all long gone!
