This was around the time SmackDown roster was getting stacked. Despite them not having John Cena on SmackDown in 2008, still though, SmackDown had all the superstars: Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Undertaker, Edge, Big Show, Vladimir Kozlov, Umaga, Shelton Benjamin, The Great Khali, MVP, and so on. SmackDown’s roster from mid 2008-early 2009 before the ‘09 draft was so much Fire and lit than RAW’s roster.

This is a classic example of an employer bullying and utterly humiliating their employee, on live television no less. You can tell that JR is legitimately stunned and upset when he sees this, even by the way he compulsively pulls back and nearly jumps out of his chair. For a guy who gave so much to this company, to give him this surprise on live television just shows what a sadist Vince McMahon really is. I always interpreted this moment as Vince saying to JR ‘you’re not good enough for our A-Show anymore, and now we’re going to disrupt the routine that you’ve lived for over 10 years by making you work on Tuesdays instead’, rather than just having a decent conversation with his employee, like any respectable employer would do. Whilst undoubtedly a genius that gave us years of decent WWF programming, it doesn’t change the fact that as a human being, Vince McMahon is a piece of shit.

That's what I don't get. Let them know some time in advance that they are moving brands (like, inform them around Rumble time that in the next draft, they will change shows. Or heck. Do the more respectable thing and discuss it with them) so that way they (Cole and JR) have more time to prepare. Thrusting it on them last second is beyond cold and disrespectful
@physicalgrafiti12345

This is just sad when you consider how many it effected. Cole was thrust into a position he was not ready for or even wanted. Ross was embarrassed.
