The X-Pac/Road Dogg match was the swan song for one of the greatest factions in WWF history, D-Generation X. With Triple H becoming an established main eventer with Stephanie McMahon by his side, Billy Gunn and Tori both injured (and shortly making their returns as "The One" and Raven's ninja lackey respectively), and Chyna hanging with Eddie Guerrero (but not for much longer), both X-Pac and Dogg were pretty much twisting in the wind. It's crazy how three years earlier, DX was formed in August-September 1997 by Shawn Michaels, HHH, and Chyna, (with "Ravishing" Rick Rude in tow), and even after Shawn retired from the ring due to his back injury after WrestleMania 14 in March 1998 (until he fully healed up and returned in 2002), Rude went back to WCW in November 1997 (and later died in April 1999), and Hunter and Chyna reformed the group with X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws, DX pretty much dominated the wrestling world for all of 1998, and then the first and fourth quarters of 1999. But, the once powerful and revolutionary group went out with a whimper in a match between two guys who weren't even included in the original incarnation to begin with. After this match, the DX signs and innuendos slowly faded, and the Neon Green was finished for good (at least until 2006). Oh, what a ride it's been.

Talk about a shot of Nostalgia, I remember I watched this show so much the tape started to wear out on it. Good times! Great review, Thanks Brian!

I started watching the WWF in late 99, but it was 2000 where I became a real wrestling fan.

WoW this was the first ever PPV I ever saw live in the UK, it holds a very special place in my heart an is highly responsible for my continuing love for pro wrestling an wrestling content. Thank you ever so much WWW for covering this an I implore any one who has not seen this PPV to do so- its a classic.

As a kid, I always thought that botched pedigree was how Triple H tore his quad, since they would always show it followed by him being helped up the ramp in those "don't try this at home" videos.

I watched this not too long ago and what got me was the Jericho Benoit video package where you hear Michael Cole say "Chris Benoit! He's sick, he's sadistic" and I can't help but think how eerily accurate those words would become.

I actually had this on video here in the UK and rewatched it over and over. When i watched it on the network recently i found i could remember every word of commentary 😭. You did a great job on this one..gave a great ppv its proper justice i think 👌

I first got into wrestling in early August of 2000 so this was the first WWE PPV that happened after I started watching so it's always held a special place in my heart. I've gone back and watched a lot of old Raws and PPVs from the early Attitude Era but this time period of it has always been my favorite.

For me it’s the table breaking noise from Matt’s fall of the ladders through the table to the floor. Awww man what a sound. I loved it

That’s awesome you’re going to do a Clash of the Champions review!! Those are what I grew up watching in the early 90s. Hoping for more COTC reviews!

Should mention that this was the first time the new Summerslam logo debuted. It would be used for years to come (2008 would be the last I believe).

It’s high spots like Shane’s fall here, Titantron jump against Kane at Unforgiven, and his Hell in a Cell that are my cases as to why Shane is the Prince of High Spots, behind only Mick Foley of course

Unironcally we as wrestling fans were attacked by the real life Right to Censor when they removed "offenisve" content from Peacock when they could have easily just placed a warning at the beginning of every show!

I used to do a Triple H impression as myself doing Trips but after so many vids and years of hearing you do it, your triple H is now how my version sounds😂
