As far as the Jarrett story goes, who knows what the real truth is? The story he told on that podcast was different than the original story he told years ago, which was that he was still owed payoffs from SummerSlam and Unforgiven, and since he was leaving with almost no notice he didn't think he'd ever see that money so he told Vince he wanted it before the PPV or else he wouldn't show. It's funny how a lot of these stories seem to change over the years.

He’s spot on when with the comments about the ladder match. If you’re watching it for the first time in 2024, it probably looks fairly tame/by the numbers. In 1999, however, *nobody* had done anything close to that, hence the constant standing ovations. I remember watching it live and it took a little bit for the crowd to get into it, but once they did, those 4 had em in the palms of their hand. This was also before the ladder match stipulation had been run into the ground. IIRC, there’d only been 3 ladder matches on PPV prior to this (Shawn/Razor at WM10, Shawn/Razor at SS 95, and Rock/HHH at SS 98) *Edit*: also Austin/McMahon at KOTR 99, but that was such a horrendous PPV that I try to block it out of my memory.

I would put the Terri Runnels Invitational against the Benoit Booker T best of 7 series. Career making mid-card work that arguably bested main events and always had the crowd in the palm of their hands. Basic Feuds: 1) I want your belt. 2) I hate you because (fill in the blank). 3) Young up and comer against stale veteran. This shows that you don't always have to fall into those three categories. It was the TRI that got me absolutely hooked on wrestling again.

This series has reminded me of just how random and inconsistent the WWF could be in the attitude era. Last PPV Val was feuding with a heel Steve Blackman, and now he's a heel feuding with Mankind. This is far from the only example where certain superstars just flip from heel to baby face at random.

'Jeff Jarrett vs Chyna' is one of the best examples ive seen, to describe "the Duality of wrestling/kayfabe"...on the Outside, JJ is a Misogynist who targets Chyna because he wants to 'intimidate' her away from the ring, because he hates women...but on the Inside, he actually "broke the ice" for Chyna to be considered a serious contender rather than 'a buff Diva', which in turn led to the Diva brand in general dissolving into a more-legitimate "Women's Division"...Jarrett may have started it, but others like Jericho took that torch and kept it running afterward, and theres a non-zero chance that "at least im not the First man to lose to a woman" was a deciding factor for some matches...

Chioda takes the most bumps. My favorite ref. Tackle from HHH, punches from HHH, nut shots from HHH, belly to belly from Shamrock, chairshot from Rock, etc.

Kane was just stupid strong. Jackin Bradshaw up for the choke slam like it was nothing. Farouq's spin flip on that Insuguri was pretty awesome too.
