Went to this show when i was 10. After the show my dad and I ran into the DOA at a local diner. They couldn’t have been any nicer. They actually asked me who won the main event and like a total mark I told them all about Shawn Michaels chair shot to the undertaker. They told us they were actually waiting for Taker after the show to meet “next door”. I asked my dad if we could wait to meet the undertaker and he replied that I could do it “when I turned 18”. One of the best SummerSlam’s ever! That main event, and Austin’s neck injury were definitely history making moments.

Rewatched this PPV in anticipation for your review and I paid more attention to the Bulldog-Shamrock match than damn near any match looking for the chin locks. Davey didn’t disappoint. He just can’t kick the habit

I love wrestling logic, where constant interference is "solved" via using a steel cage, as opposed to just banning all non-participants from ringside and firing them if they don't obey.

Can't technically ban a manager from ringside. That's their job. Lol Thus the steel cage. Unless otherwise stipulated. Can't fire them either for that. It would be breach of contract by the company. Lol Think deeper my man.

@@michaelmorbid704 so if a boxing trainer kept attacking his guy's opponent and hitting him in the yambag when he came near the ropes, you'd have to let him keep coming to ringside because "it's his job?" Of course not. I'm willing to suspend disbelief with rasslin', but it has to meet me halfway and maintain the vague plausibility of being a real competition. In your world, Bill Belichick can run down the opposing team's sideline and beat them with a bat with no consequence. Which would be entertaining, true, but it ain't gonna happen.

I remember watching this summerslam on a illegal cable box my dad owned at the time. This was a great show the midcard delivered and the main event was a really good match and also set the time for what was to come and led to one of the best boom periods in wrestling.

Days Left Until Bret Hart Leaves The WWF: 97 With Bret now winning the WWF Title for the last time in his career, I think a countdown is an appropriate thing to do. Maybe I'll consider doing one for Shawn between Survivor Series & Mania XIV, too. And, before anyone wonders (even sarcastically), I won't be counting how many days are left until Brian Pillman passes away, because that'd be messed up.
