It's outragious that the BEF were never awarded a medal for France 1940

Any British troops involved would be immediately rewarded with the 1939 Star, regardless of how much time they served. The French did institute the Dunkirk Medal in 1960 that could be awarded to any ally member involved in the evacuation. Nevertheless, it is a shame that the British Government never instituted a medal for their own troops!

Got my 2nd Great Grand Uncle's 9 Medals as he survived both World Wars. 3 from WW1 and 6 from WW2. He was in the Union Defense Force but received British Medals.

I have my father’s medals from WW2. He was in North Africa and Monte Cassino, Italy. He never really spoke about that time. He was in the Coldstream Guards.

I've just got my Grand fathers WW2 and great grand fathers medals. I think they are all campaign medals but really proud to have them. Especially as I served in the RAF for twelve years.

The question about the WW2 stars that I have always wondered about is this; While it was not possible to receive all the the stars, the max was six with clasps where appropriate, did anyone actually qualify for all of them? After looking through the qualification criteria I suspect it was more possible than many think.

I have the last medal in this video but I don’t know if it’s real or fake. I can see so many replicas online. If it’s real does anyone know how much it’s worth ?

Great video as usual premiere, I love that you're doing more military awards. Also there's a scam comment so you might want to delete that.

The South African medal is the one issued for service in South Africa to non-military personnel. The Africa Service Medal (not shown) was awarded to those who saw combat. The Canadian Service Medal was issued with a bar for those who served overseas. I would have liked to have seen the various bars awarded for the various campaign stars included. A BEF bar for the 1939-45 Star would have been a nice acknowledgement of their contribution. The Australian and South African medals were issued named, otherwise it was up to the individual to get them named if they wanted to. Many thanks for the video.

it's such a shame the MoD didnt impress the recipients names, regiments and service numbers on these medals.
