Not the same city I grew up in. My Wyandotte had many more factories along the river front and adjacent to the railroad tracks. Many of the old houses have been torn down and replaced. So much has changed, yet a lot still remains the same,

I was born in Wyandotte General on 9/18. Wyandotte was a great place to grow up. I wouldn’t have had any other way. My 4 kids are jealous of the things we did as a kids. Too many memories to mention. It was like the movie “The Sandlot”.

Grew up in Wyandotte live 15 miles from there today. Anybody remember old Watkins hamburgers on Biddle and Sullivan ? Carl Watkins opened his hamburger joint in 1937-in his 50th anniversary he had 5cent shakes and 5cent pop. My mom worked there in 87 . Closed up after Carl died. Now an office building is there. Great times. Great old city of Polish and Italian communities and they could always recognize someone who wasn't living here. Nothing changes except next generation of Kids .

Lucille Ball’s childhood home, demolished by order of the City of Wyandotte in 1963, once stood at 3738 Biddle Ave on the open green lot seen to the right side of the screen at 7:11. The house and many others were also ordered to be demolished as it was abandoned and considered a blight to the city.

@@johncooper7663 she lived in Wyandotte as a child, her father was a lineman installer for the telephone company. Her father died at age 27 of typhoid fever. Lucy returned to Wyandotte in and stayed to visit the current residents of her childhood home. There are many photos of her as a child and of her return visit to Wyandotte after becoming a famous tv star in the Wyandotte museum.

At about 1:22 you drove past a house where the Legendary Lucille Ball once lived. She was but a small child and her family lived in the servants quarters. Even very of the current residents know of that tidbit.

Was it at 126 Biddle?
@thinkbeforyouvote

Sorry to correct you but that is not the location. They lived at what is now 3738 Biddle down past Eureka. There is no home there with that address any longer. That house was demolished in the early 60's. The post office changed addresses along Biddle in 1928 so 126 Biddle became 3738 Biddle. This is where it stood on the right next to where the blue house now stands 7:12 .

Thank you. Wyandotte is one of my favorite area in SE Michigan. The video doesn't really come close to giving the city and all it has to offer due.
