I know Hongkongers live in really really really small apartments. However, a lot of Hongkongers do have the bad habits of buying and accumulating a lot of junk, cluttering their already tiny living space. Living in a tiny space is beyond one's control; however, whether to clutter your living space or not is completely within your own control. I know for those who belong to the older generations that have lived through poverty (and may still do), it is very difficult for them to get rid of the habit of accumulating junk. They hang on to a lot of useless things as if their lives depended on it. This mentality is very difficult to change. However, if you are a younger person, and if you are living in an extremely small space, and if you still accumulate junk, then that's a little inexcusable. But of course, it also has something to do with one's personality. I have always been a very neat person who abhor clutters. It is not hard for me to discard unnecessary things that surround me periodically. I find the process very liberating and refreshing actually.
