Nailed it. I bought X4 on release, I'm back on the horse and relying on you and other creators to know what the heck Im doing again! Edited after 50 seconds. Swapped back to X4 - First thing I shot gave me one.

Straight, to the point, and with all the information I needed. Thanks! Also worth noting that you will notice it is not ore if you see the crate symbol appear on the minimap, so you can just shoot until you see one of those and then vacuum it in.

I usually simply follow a mining ship or fleet, whether mine or NPC, & pick up all their random drops: it takes far less effort & concentration for a result that's only slightly slower

Whenever I babysit one of my miners, they usually spend huge amounts of time sitting there deciding what to do. Actual lasers-on-asteroid time is really low. I guess you could have a NPC fighter assigned to collect drops perhaps.

@@middle-aged-gamer These drops seem to hang around for a fair time before despawning, so it's usually pretty easy to simply swoop thru the trail of debris left by miners with your loot magnet on. I guess you could target drops manually in the map too, but that becomes tedious after a while & tends to require decent satellite coverage to see a wide area

@@snafu2350 When I get some NPC scouts I might have them on a repeat order to "collect drops" near where the miners do their things. That might automate lodestone collection. Collect drops command has a fairly wide zone, but if the miner moves on to another part of the sector, the collecting ship might get left behind.

This was very timely! I just needed lodestones on my first playthrough and was struggling so much. Thanks!

Huh didnt know it worked like that, thought it was a random drop from mining. Thanks for the info.

Yeah you can find them from random miner leftovers, but if you want some right now, I do it this way. And if you aren't slowing down to explain what's going on, just going by the visuals, it can go pretty quick.

What troubles me is how the video cut. And then was sped up before the lodestone appeared. I'm fresh back from hunting lodestone myself, and I am feeling bored witless and numb. Are the asteroids the only place to acquire lodestone? Doesn't it drop from lockboxes?

Rarely they can be found in trader's corners. I sped up the video to not have to sit through long periods of nothing happening.

@@Veselin_Angelov Yes, the pirate bases sell EMP bombs in very small quantities. Usually 0, often 1, and rarely up to 3. What do you mean by hiding spoilers?
