I agree with most of your top characters, but Torque definitely deserves to be in there. Her Tongue Pull / Bind combo can take an enemy out of play reliably, and once you upgrade her damage with Tight Grip she just annihilates the opposition.

Once I started playing with Torque I would definitley agree, but the issue is that once Torque takes out an enemy, she herself also takes herself out of the equation

I love Torque also. I would usually Bind most dangerous targets if I cant kill them in reasonable time.

One tip I found useful myself: when researching stuff, do not research weapons, or at least, do not prioritize them at all. By the time you get the really good stuff, last tier, you will have epics (in plural) from missions and black market. Also, bear in mind you have guys with pistols, assault rifles, shotguns and machine guns mixed together, and most likely 2 out of 4, tops, will be of the same type (so you may research, say, shotguns, and only have on member of the team using those). Not to mention the fact some of your guys will not be shooting much or at all, since their other abilities are way more important and take the "end of turn" action slot. I would trade a few agents over Zephir any day of the week: Godmother gets to act a lot, getting out extra shotgun shots at enemies with the right talents, and a shotgun packs your highest available punch at the beginning of the game. Verge gets to mind control people eventually, but just with his stun, he will be very useful removing enemies from the initiative list, which is what you want at the start. Claymore gets free grenades and multiple uses of the special ones you equip him with, which he can use and then shoot, giving him lots of punch. All of those have been tried in my impossible difficulty campaign, and they worked extremely well. And speaking of amazing dudes, Torque, hands down. She will take one enemy out without fail with her squeeze, and will help you pull agents/vips out of danger with her tongue ability (or get to the exit area faster). She will also become very hard to kill with high dodge (and if you so desire, the ability to heal while in poison clouds). Her perk to get through tight spaces and provide extra breach access is just icing on the cake. Do not get me wrong, Zephir is good. But not A tier, imo.

Epic weapon also benefit from research. You should definately try to research one mastercrafted weapon when doing Sacred Coil to get shred.

Agreed on Zephyr / Blueblood / Terminal as the top 3, but while Patchwork is great on robot-heavy missions Torque is now my #4 pick against the other factions (especially with her final training where Tongue Pull on an ally grants them an extra action). I found Godmother's abilities really underwhelming. Security snowball is definitely the way to go with Field Teams, with 1 Tech and 1 or 2 Finance (even on Impossible difficulty I never got above 2 Anarchy), and frag / plasma grenades are your friend! (While acid and incendiary grenades can be good if used carefully, trying to avoid the aftereffects can be a headache.)

Hold off on purchasing enhanced weapons or armor after you've researched it. If you research the master level, you can just skip direct to buying it. It's also important to note that despite a lot of people insisting you get better epic weapons, the upgrades from the research tree still apply to them. So you probably still want both. Also Verge (sectoid man) is an amazing aggressive combatant. People knocked out that he's used abilities on still count as part of his neural network (he still gets his bonuses to accuracy and later crit and such). He can later get an ability that heals him each turn for every enemy in the neural network. Additionally his abilities don't typically end his turn (I believe Mind Flay does still), so you can add 2 enemies to the network a turn while helping control the turn order (by stunning enemies and potentially making them shoot each other). Lastly advice for stuns in general: The stun number is how many *actions* the enemy misses out on. If they get stun 1 a lot of people think the game is bugged or poorly programmed when they shoot you anyways. They simply miss out on a move or attack action, so plan accordingly if you don't get Stun 2.

Can confirm late-game Blueblood can be crazy OP against the right enemies. From my first complete playthrough: - Pistol min damage: 3 - Masterwork upgrade: +2 = 5 - Blue-screen rounds +5 = 10 (against robots) 10 minimum damage against robots is great by itself, but it gets better - Dead-eye: x1.5 = 15 - Fond farewell: x2 = 30 (for the last shot in the clip) - Critical hit: x1.5 = 45 minimum damage Getting the full 45 *minimum* damage shot is very situational, but even "only" 15 dmg ones are huge. Couple that with the lighting hands epic pistol and using 'free shot -> deadeye -> faceoff' can sometimes clear out the entire robot heavy encounter in one turn, or take down a gatekeeper in one turn

There are a few comments recommend Torque. I say Torque + Shelter is prob the most powerful combo in the game. Torque is extremely good at forcing a high value to just take no action, and Shelter is extremely good at translocate these high value target right next to her. Shelter's has potentially two abilities to manipulate turn order, and his soulfire not only delay turn order of it's target, it is also a 4 guarantee damage that bypass armor. His ult is to create a clone of himself that can also translocate and soulfire, which the clone's soulfire also delay turn order. Keeping him alive is a bit harder but that's why you have Terminal. Claymore's Shredder Grenade + Sticky Grenade are also mad damage. If you put a Shredder at a location where you think the Sticky target will run to you can detonate two AOE dmg in the same location in the same turn.

In the early game Zephyr is the strongest character hands down. The parry prevents a lot of damage and therefor wounds, her damage is high, but falls off later, as she doesn't have weapon upgrades, she earns you a lot of intel, when she learns the corresponding skill and her AoE is crazy good. Combined with Terminal it gets stupid, as parry stacks. Start with Zephyr, punch 2-3 people (the first in the turn order needs to be downed optimally) then give her another action to hit another one, place her in the open so she's prioritized as a target and block to shots of the remaining enemies. So damn good I agree with your character list, although I find claymore and Torque viable additions. I's replace either blueblood or Zephyr depending on the situation, Patchwork and Terminal are set and forget for me :P Axiom is my least favorite of the bunch. He just randomly kills targets I want to capture, his hit chance on meele is kinda low, he only has a chance to debuff people and his last ability he earns just kinda sucks. Zephyr can do all that a lot better with the only minus being that she doesn't have a weapon and that she isn't too good at breaching imo

In regards to tip 8, the breaching grenade that removes their ammo is amazing at this, since they then just straight up can't fire at you even though they are aggressive. Rooms full of aggressive enemies becomes significantly easier too since they are forced to reload on their turn if they want to fire, so flanks etc. won't happen against you. Also, after 4 playthroughs trying out all of the characters, all characters are basically in either A or S tier. None of them are bad, it's really a matter of super good vs. broken XD

Once she's fully upgraded Patchwork is crazy imo. Not only against robots. Her shock ability just chains over half the map. Oh and also with the right ability every single target gets desoriented or stunned. The stun can stack. She also had a reflex grip in my setup, so basically the last room was like this: shoot the high hp target, chainlightning 3-5 targets. Team up on her after, shoot and chainlightning, use the item which gives someone another turn, shoot chainlightning, room done or everything is stunned for up to 6 actions^^

Tip Eleven: If theres something spawning enemies that can be disabled, do that first. More enemies means more things to shoot death at you, and the less, the better. also, overwatch is kinda terrible since the tile reg and range is pretty poor.

My personal fav is probably claymore. Upgraded every fight with him starts with a scrap bomb followed by a plasma or frag to detonate followed by a sticky bomb. Getting grenades for every encounter is kind of gross.

Managing Anarchy/Field Teams. 1) I'd prioritize Security. I'd actually build three of these before anything else because intel gives more field teams, which means more income. I usually build 3 security, 2 tech/finance, and then finish wtih a 4th security (since it's soo damned expensive). Later on, you may want to consider anything that gives free field teams, since they'll start to cost a LOT. 2) Level 1 field teams only give income on Friday. For this reason, on Thursday or Wed, you may wish to invest your cash in level 1 teams rather than upgrading existing ones. On Sat or Sun, I'd aim for upgrading before buying new level 1's, since they won't pay for a while. If you are doing a mission and unrset is reasonably high, consider upgrading to level 2, which usually comes with a reward when you do a mission. Basically, you want to look at the reward and try and take advantage of it. 3) Look down at your Field team special abilities. You want to unlock all of these (particularly double situation rewards) very quickly. Also, getting to level 3 unlocks the ability to research two foundry items, special ops or training at once. 4) Obviously, you should never have spare agents. Always be training or special opping or speeding up foundry projects. I generally do not bother with training until I have a few spare agents, instead starting off with legwork for some intel, since this will get you additional field teams (which are HUGE). Some Teams/Character Notes Terminal forgivith a multitude of sins. Every freaking fight she's in, it's "I heal 4, give armor and dodge, and THEN I pin someone down or shoot them". There's few reliable aways to get back HP in this game, and terminal can do it every turn. She is just absurdly useful on any mission that involves any kind of endurance run. You never know when someone's going to take a freak shot at one of your characters and mess them up: terminal lets you deal with fairly easily. She's almost absurdly useful at everything, and I strongly recommend using her on your team. One team that works suprsingly well is Axiom/Godmother/Claymore/(With your 4th as Cherub or Terminal). The key here is that the first three all use shotguns, so you can upgrade these and your team's damage goes up a LOT. I don't recommend trying this with most other weapons: people who use pistols/smg's/rifles generally have better things to be doing than shooting already other than Blueblood, and if you are using him he's probably going to be getting the unique. Items Have I mentioned that frag/plasma/acid grenades are ABSURDLY useful? As long as it detonates and blows up cover and shreads, it's pretty amazing.

So I used the sectoid I forget his name at the moment but I found out later on that stunned and mind controlled enemies don't count as hostiles, this means if you manage to stun or mind control every enemy on the map you win wether that's moving on to the next area or just beating the mission and they all count as captured. I remember beating a really hard mission by mind controlling 8 enemies and the mission just ended. I don't want to say this is over powered because typically abilities that stun or mind control are one per mission

I like the way that the game doesn't force you to play out an encounter once victory is inevitable. In addition to the above, if the only remaining enemy is Bound by Torque, they immediately die even if it would have required multiple turns to finish squeezing them.

Its a uncommon opinion but I think Terminal is rather overrated. Once you leveled up a little you do not take much damage anyway (see tip 2) and instead of her giving away an action to someone better just take someone better instead if Terminal like Claymore or Godmother. And Patchwork is really strong even when not fighting robots as she can AoE stun the complete enemy team with one good jolt. Zephyr is not really good in my opinion. Shes weak in the breach, the status effects are random and her damage is low. Torque can lock down an enemy much better with bind.
