I just got the newest gen XCR about a year ago and i absolutely adore this frickin rifle. The XCR-L is so fuckin underrated that it's not even funny, well i should say - the newer gen's of it specifically. Some of the earlier gens had alot of issues for a number of years but it's developed into a pretty damn fine platform. It's the XCR-L in 556, and in reality it is actually quite different than the AR15 in terms of it's operating system despite externally looking very similar. I have everything from the SCAR 16, the 805 Bren, and a number of high-end AR15's like the SAI GRY, the KAC SR15, and the DDM DDM4 V7, which are all top of the line Assault Rifles in 556 and even though i love all of them they most definitely are all ridiculously overpriced. The XCR-L has MLok and was about a hundred bucks more than the 805 Bren that i had purchased about a year earlier and a few hundred bucks cheaper than the DDM4 V7, but otherwise it was cheaper than the rest of those rifles i listed while also having every bit as good performance. It's such an underrated gun here in the states, cuz unlike Canada we are flooded with AR15's, i mean we pretty much worship the fuckin gun. Not that it's not a phenomenal platform, cuz it certainly is, it's just that we have developed this weird AR15 fanboy snobbish attitude towards any and all other 556 rifle/carbines out there and that's what leaves gems like the XCR out in the cold unfortunately. Cuz the newer iterations of this rifle and pistol for that matter, are every bit as good in pretty much every way imaginable - as those other high end rifles and SBR's out there.

I know this is a 3 year old video but I have a tip for you about the loose stock if you fold it open you will notice a small Allen bolt in the middle and that’s to adjust the tension. If you unscrew it out and fold it closed you will notice no more play in the stock. I also had a little play in mine and after a quick adjustment it’s nice and solid now. Love my XCR-L :)

own the xcr in 5.56x45 and 7.62x39 and love it. key mod, earth tan, in 18" heavy barrels. agree the 7.62 AR MAGS are rediculous. didn't have a single issue until I loaded more than about 5 rounds in a mag. also noted that my 5.56 barrel has a huge problem shooting steel .223. I believe it's a gas issue, and its obvious I'm losing pressure to the TulAmmo .223. however, issues aside with nearly 6000 rounds down range, 4000 in 7.62x39, I have had ZERO PROBLEMS. 2000 in 5.56/.223 and only have problems with TulAmmo in .223. 600 rounds of perfecta .223 ammo in one sitting, barrel so hot, my leather gloves were no longer keeping the heat from my hands and still didn't have a single issue. worth the money, and I will likely pick up the competition version later this year.

Didn't know ppl were having so many issues. I've got a quad railed one in 7.62x39 as well and it runs good with xcr pistol mags. only problem I've had was a 556 conversion barrel, it's crater that the hex screw indexs with was out of alignment and was causing the barrel to loosen and lose zero. Thanks wolverine supplies for sorting it out with no issues!

Just got one, 308 xcrm, in the heavy barrel,... after only 17 shot methodical carbon-solvent-only, barrel break in, with high power long range scope, and premium factory ammo, off sandbag etc. - Hornady Eldx 308 178g - getting, I kid you not, about 1/2 minute!!!! Yikes!!! only marginally better rifle accuracy is from my AI axcr 300wm... the Robinson xcr m is My favourite rifle now!!! I took off the muzzle break, as I don't like the noise. I really like the folding stock e.g. for hunting, having it next to you in the truck, 'truck gun' and, ... you see something and it is a quick grab for a small package (~29" long with no muzzle break), jump out, flip the stock open (~36"), slam in the mag... Nice!! Looks great.. mine - OD Green... and Certainly,esp. with the 10 round pistol mag, in Canada you can't get better Griz defense... Coast Mountains, the Rockies!!! God's Love for Canada, Western BC!!!! Great Video! Thanks!

Own 3 XCR's and have shoot many case's of mil surplus ammo with next to no problems. Yes the XCR are costly but the newer versions are dependable and they have been making changes as problems come up. But as Rod says the magazines are the weak link but in our Canadian neutered magazine world it's not that big a deal. I will point out that when shooting the 7.62x39 mil surplus to make sure and do a good cleaning including taking apart the gas port regulator.
@naturallyj1

I have one in 7.62x39 and the mags are a huge problem. I would not go to war with it. I am going to get the .223 conversion to have both because I know the .223 is as reliable as an ar15. Another problem I was having is ammo related. The dominion non-corrosive just didn't have enough pressure to cycle reliably. I sent th gun to RA and they made the gas port a little bigger free of charge. Now it will function with any ammo on the market. I am hoping that someone will make a mag that will function reliably at some point. The problem is that the indent along the side that keeps the bullets in place needs to continue all the way up to the top of the neck. That is why the bullet can shift as Rod sais in the video. If that indent could go all the way to the top the bullets would stay in their place and cycle reliably. I know that they cant do this because the mags are stamped. I may try adding some material to extend the indent. Maybe if there were some plastic mags made the indent could run all the way to the top. Anyway, I hope a solution will come to be soon because othewise I love the rifle and I love the caliber.........

I have shot the Keymod 7.62x39r XCR a few times but in the end I went with the Keymod in .223/5.56 as I do not like mag issues. Would I buy the kit, maybe but as I had no .223 rifles and a few .30 cal systems .223 had won over more points for me. The 7.62x39r is fun to shoot and a lot more downrange love. And yes buy the Keymod version hands down the best no matter what caliber.

One of my theories as to why there aren't, thankfully, more shootings in Canada with firearms that are AR-15 analogs is because its usually knowledgeable, experienced, responsible and patient firearm owners who go through the trouble of looking for these firearms and getting to know them. In other words, NOT an emotionally unstable, impulsively violent person who can buy a more basic AR-15 type rifle at the drop of their fragile ego.

just noticed on one of the video clips of you shooting, your magazine had more that 5 rounds. It would be unfortunate that with all the videos that you have put up urging us to follow the rules, that you have not yourself. But if for some reason the XCR gets around the 5 round mag cap, I’m on my way out to buy one. Am I missing something in the regulations, or were you just so far back in the woods that you didn't care. I do look to this channel as the pinnacle of firearms youtube channels in Canada.
