Xdinary Heroes is one of the few groups I will trust to cover anything. They have never disappointed even when the song isn't rock (like their hellevator by stray kids and tomboy by g-idle covers, both of which i am obsessed with) and this didn't either. When the fancams from the concert came out, I freaked out and ran to my sister and bestie wielding my phone and screaming "Xdinary Heroes sang the millennial emo kid anthem!" And we all promptly became teenagers again. (Which made me especially proud considering not a single member is a millennial and only one can speak English and he didn't even sing) XD

It's a pretty good cover, especially considering English isn't their first language. It really picked up towards the end. I'm a bit biased though. They haven't quite got the dramatic, histrionic tone the song requires in my opinion. The song's telling a story so it needs the drama. I've seen My Chem live twice and it's hard not to compare because Gerard Way is a master showman. That said, I do like Xdinary Heroes a lot. Lunatic is a great song. Their b-sides are often better than their titles, so if you're going to keep checking them out, please go deeper than the title tracks.

I really do need to check out more XDINARY HEROES for sure! I think that it is hard as well since that Gerard isn't playing an instrument, its hard to get the dramatics when you don't have full access to the stage like a singer does. but you're right he is an absolute legend!

Xdinary Heroes is such a young band and they are so hardworking and true to their music, yk, I think this is beautiful and should be encouraged, specially on these modern times... so thank you soooooo much for checking them out and for reacting this cover 🥺❤️ I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!! I've seen you know them already so I hope you can dig a little more on their (yet small) discography. They even have "slower/emotional" songs like "Good Enough", "Dear H" and Nothing But Thieves cover "Impossible" that are just sooooooo goood!!!!! I'm genuinely excited to see the future of those guys 🥺 (I'm a Villain ♡)

They are so good. I usually don't like this dark concept they have, but it fits them so much that i can not ignore them. Is something alluring in this kids as a band.

You should definitely check out their songs! My recommendations would be “Again? Again!” , “Pluto” , “Test me” , “Man in the Box”, “Freakin Bad” , “Strawberry Cake” , “Freddy” , “XMAS” I know that’s a lot of songs, but seriously all their songs are just so good i can’t pick a favorite!

Ok, confession. This is my least favorite era and genre of music that's come out in my lifetime so far. I know it's one of your favorites. 🙃 I've never heard the original but I am familiar with this sound and vibe and since that is what they were going for here, I think they did it well. I'm happy it brought you happy memories.

@@kl2894 I will check it out. Although I've genuinely listened to emo/pop punk music and disliked it, I haven't listened to My Chemical Romance specifically so I can't automatically assume I won't like it.

@@kristenblack6026 It's fine if you don't like it 😁 Everyone has their own individual taste. My Chemical Romance has a very big theatrical component that's sort of missing in the cover. I just thought you might be interested in the difference.

Ok, can confirm I didn't hate that at all. The frontman is amazing. However once it got going with the guitars and the chorus it definitely got that sound I'm not fond of. But I definitely liked it better than most. So, I was in high school when Green Day was at their height and I can't tell you how much I loathed them. To be fair, I was not listening to anything that was current at the time except maybe some garbage dance music that my boyfriend and his buddies liked to blast in their street sleeper Oldsmobiles with jacked up sound systems. 🤮 I had no taste in high school. Later in my 20s, I came to appreciate 70s and 80s punk and goth bands, not as my daily listening, but I like quite a few of those bands. I kind of wished I could've been a goth but at heart I am an 80s synth pop/new wave /70s glam rock/Euro-pop/EDM kind of girl. I like pink and glitter and androgyny and neon lights. And weird geniuses. Kate Bush and Grimes and Lisa Gerrard with a side of Enya. 😅 So after punk and 80s goth and one or two Smashing Pumpkins songs, that whole vibe lost me at Green Day and never got me back. I find it whiny and gloomy and I do get why people like gloomy and disenfranchised. But when I'm gloomy and disenfranchised, I wanna listen to fae women or boys with glitter eye shadow singing about relationships with space aliens or robots or something. 😂

@@kl2894 No I always appreciate your recommendations KL. I'm pretty sure it was your suggestions that won me over to BigBang back during Aaron's BigBang week when I was having a love/hate dilemma with them. I would say that we have quite different tastes that converge in interesting places. Which is why I'm so here for this channel! 😁

@@kristenblack6026 I can relate. I like that stuff too lol. My niece actually got me into My Chemical Romance. We went to see them in concert about 16 years ago and then again in March this year. They're even better now. The lead singer Gerard Way wore a women's business suit with a skirt that finished a few inches above the knee, extremely nice blouse, stockings and sensible court shoes. He stayed dressed that way for the whole concert apart from taking off the jacket. Somehow it didn't seem odd at all. The man is incredibly charismatic. Their albums all have a theme and tell a story and there is a glam rock element to it all. They were inspired by Queen.
