Remember in the mid-60’s, youngsters were keen to wear the trousers with wide leather belt and the waist part down to as lowest as possible, 2 buttons at the tailbones were seen quite obvious if shirtless, it’s lower than the undies, just 5 inches to wrap the private area, what kind of trend back then, probably under British influence during the colonial period. * low waist= dite yiu or chin long in Cantonese.
And head & temple massage for 10 seconds too. I once experienced an embarrassing moment in the 70’s, when I had a haircut at the Shanghainese Barbershop, next to ‘ Dai Sam Yuen’ Chinese Restaurant, ( Canal Rd. West x Hennessy Rd.)the Sifu was under 5 feet of height, so he had to stand on his tiptoes when trimming the hair of skull roof, I had slide down a bit but sitting uncomfortably in order to meet his height, suddenly he was like sitting down, luckily he wasn’t shaving for me at the moment, actually it’s his prosthetic leg fell off from the position, then he sat on the floor, my tears was streaming horribly, then told him the haircut is done, very nice, an unexpected moment. And Sifu was over 65 years of age.
I think Sam's Taylor was the best known in those days.

sailors’s wide leg trousers material is made of cotton fibres that swell when wet and can hold air. In the event of a sailor falling overboard or having to abandon ship without a life vest, the bell bottomed trousers can be quickly removed in the water without having to remove footwear.* pants invented for sailors to wear in 1817. Information from Wikipedia, thanks.
