Despite how annoyingly condescending Omi was throughout the show (the social ignorance thing only goes so far), I think it speaks volumes about how he never doubted Raimundo's integrity and character even though he had genuinely betrayed him and the others.

I think the writers should have included a scene of Dojo confronting Fong about his decision not to move Rai up to Apprentice. It be a great scene to show how much Dojo cares about Rai and explore Fong's character a little bit.

lmao the strong premise and dialogue is definitely what made this show. I'm starting to realize they put so many flashes of light to cover up spoty animation during fight scenes. They also cut away to other scenes so it doesn't look too bad. At 1:20 as the group walks away you'll notice that they get smaller but the background and foreground remain the same in scale. It makes them appear tiny at 1:22.
@MagillanicaLouM

The flashes during fight scenes is a censorship thing, not necessarily to cover up animation errors or anything. Fight scenes couldn't show moments of impact for hard hitting punches and kicks (against humans at least iirc) so the flashes were done as a work around. All kids action cartoons of the era (and especially decades prior) had to abide by it, though idk if it's still around. I didn't notice any of the other stuff you mentioned though. But hey part of craft sometimes.

In all honesty, Fung was right to not promote Raimundo because it shows he's still thinking short term. Yes, Rai's intentions were good, but had it not worked out like it did, Mala-mala-Jong would have been much more powerful and nigh-unstoppable. The monks were ready to sacrifice themselves for the kids and the Shen Gong Wu they had and Raimundo basically spat on that willingness to give them their all. They knew the risks and the danger but chose to let the trainees escape and live. And as an order that protects the world, the actions of one can jeopardize everything.

@@pforgottonsoul I won't dispute Omi's actions; he's arrogant and full of himself and I believe he's ignorant of that. As for Fung, you have to be firm in a situation like this. Can't pull any punches when it comes to saving the world. And again, it all hinged on whether or not Mala-Mala really became full power. What was Fung gonna do? Reward Rai for not only disobeying orders but putting the world in danger just to save them? Maybe it could have been handled better, but Fung did the right thing. Despite Rai's willingness to join Wuya's side, he still needed to learn the lesson the hard way that his actions could have negative consequences. That's how I see it anyway.

@@UltimaSaviorDragon and yet fung didn't think Rai would defect after getting zero grattitude for doing what he thought was right and likely saving his life? If Rai didn't care about his friends deep down the world would have been doomed anyway and in a much worse fashion than what mala mala jong would have done.
@UltimaSaviorDragon

@@pforgottonsoul At that point you’re arguing what would have come first: either Mala destroying the world or Raimundo growing to despise his friends. And I don’t think Rai wouldn’t have ever not cared for his friends in any scenario. His own desire to be acknowledged is what drove him to the Heylin side, not his friends or even Fung for that matter. He just wanted to feel as if he was doing something incredible and reap the rewards. At least that is how I see it.

@@UltimaSaviorDragon Sure... not moving him up to Apprentice is understandable, but no one should ridicule a man who is coming back to save his comrade. Those who disobey order are scum, those who abandoned their comrade are worst. If I am Fung, I won't reward Raymundo, but instead come to him privately and explain my action and offer to train him to an apprentice level personally. Instead, the idiot let him hang alone, and vulnerable... what happen next is on the monk. If I am Dashi, everyone will be facing the wall until they realized the error before I even consider busting them out. He has a good heart, and I value that above anything else. When you reprimand your subordinate, you do it privately ti preserve thier pride... congrat fung, you turn your most unpredictable piece against you.

I mean, Jesus lady.😦 Though to her credit, it did work. She had won and then lost only because Raimundo betrayed her.🧐👍

I never thought of that before!🤔 Though I did think that at the very least, Master fung should have least pulled raimundo aside and have talked to him a bit. At least thank him for saving his life but at least try to get him to think a bit more in the future and get him to at least ponder the bigger picture when the stakes are so high before he acts. I don’t think raimundo would have made a different decision, but he may have not been so reckless as to go without a plan and ANY knowledge of Mala mala jong. He could have asked dojo, the 1500 (at-least) year-old dragon and the one who hid EVERY Shen Gong Wu and KNEW the guy who made them (somehow), about the current threat. At least have a strategy of some sort before going against a seemingly invincible ‘demon warrior’.

Raimundo doesnt save Master Fung or anyone lmao. you guys clearly dont watch the eps. he just selfishly went by his own while his friends were making a plan to defeat Mala Mala Jong, and lost miserably even worse, his recklessness put his friends in danger. got his shengonwu stolen, strengthen Jong even more and spoiled his friends hiding spot as he didnt know Wuya can enter his head ironically enough, Omi, one that i see in comment people bashing him for his behavior, is the one that save their day. he went hard searching for the Golden Tiger Claws (a shengonwu he never had a chance to use it) and destroy Jong from within. reminder that because of Rai, Kimiko and Clay almost got crushed by Jong. if you guys watch the eps, you will understand what Fung feels. i also got irritated by Rai's behavior during that moment

Fung was absolutely right and Raimundo was absolutely wrong. Monks, especially masters, exercise discipline and wisdom. Raimundo demonstrated neither in being brave. He showed up to try to save the other monks and his master, and that was brave and selfless. But it actively lead to Jong to the escaped monks and the Wu, which is precisely what the plan intended to protect. All of this is fair, and of course he shouldn't be rewarded for disobeying his master and actively jeopardizing everyone. But even worse, he doesn't even react properly. The fact that he doesn't understand that bravery wasn't enough to elevate him to an apprentice, and that it was his fault they almost failed. He only further proved that he wasn't ready when he responded how he did.
