Hopefully the next model has a matte back again. The 12 Pro made me love it because just feels and looks so good. I also hope to see some more custom ROM support on Xiaomis devices in the future. After all, they still offer this very easy to unlock bootloader.

SD Gen 2 is a beast, imagine this is still not that optimised so what hell would be unleashed once this phone is completely unlocked. I really can't wait for it to arrive in my country and it's probably the last phone I'll get. Super excited

Geekerwan unlocked the GPU and maxed it and it blows anything out of the water. It even is on par with the GTX 1050 GPU and guess what it only consumes 8w of power.

Still using Mi 10 Pro with Gcam.Crazy good camera, and I enjoy MiUi.Only downside battery is now week after 2yrs and a half of heavy use.Looking forward to upgrading to the 13Ultra.

that's not a downside, that's normal for a 2+ year old phone with moderate use. honestly it's a plus considering iPhones are optimised and still have that kind of wear-and-tear, so that's actually a bit of a plus.

I'm absolutely ecstatic about this phone!! I've been trying for over 6mos to decide which Xiaomi pH to go with & the 13 meets & exceeds my expectations. Ordered a 11 pro plus & have to admit it was by far the WORST Xiaomi purchase I've made. Thanks for your , as usual, thorough & awesome review.

I feel the best 8 gen 2 phone so far is the VIVO x90 pro plus. While this Xioami might have slightly better benchmark, it seems they've cut some corners. The display has larger bezels than other flagship. USB 2.0 is not good enough for a new flagship. Average selfie camera. Ufs 3.1 with base 128gb storage.

The only thing keeping me from buying Xiaomi/Poco devices is the USB 2.0 and MIUI. They would have the "futuristic" features yet their phone still uses USB 2.0.

When this comes to the UK, and the costs are sub £700, I am tempted to get this. My s21 ultra has been a disappointing phone since the day I purchased it. Battery issues, camera issues and the like. I think the Exynos chipset has ruined my trust in Samsung, even with them going snap dragon this time around I am unsure I want to pay double the cost of a Xiaomi 13 pro for the Samsung badge.

It's a bummer that they kepts front cam video at 1080p as you said but it looked stable and very detailed video quality better than most 1080p almost like it was 1440p

This phone would almost be perfect if it had usb 3.0 speeds and 4K Video on the front facing camera.

Honestly with nearby share/quick share I basically never ever plug my phone in to transfer pictures to my computer/tablet/laptop. So to me 3.0+ speeds is a fine trade off for 120w charging. And I never really record in 4k for the front came even on my s22 ultra. Pretty much always 1080p. So I'm fine with it.

Yeah I still don't why Xiaomi and a lot of the foreign OEMs still limit the front camera at 1080p. I thought the 1080p front video looked great, but imagine it at 4k 60fps. Such a great camera system everywhere else. Especially the 8k and Ultra wide video.

Samsung galaxy fold series can do that, because it have back display when you unfold it, but yeah i wish other phone specialy flashgip phone, a lot of them still use 1080 30fps front camera 😵‍💫

@Artdog ye, I'm in one of those. I can pay up to 100% tax for new electronics, which would make it more expensive for me to import. Even worse is that there is barely any price reduction for a new aging phone.

@OmniHein I pretty much import all my phones these days. I'll usually buy something locally for a family member only. Usually I'll try to wait for the price to drop a little, which may be a few months to 6 months. I do know that some countries have heavy import fees though unfortunately.

@Artdog I feel ya, but where I live, that ain't gonna happen due to Samsung's Android monopoly (For example they asked nearly $2k for the S22U), I can get a top-spec Xiaomi 13 pro for the same price as I pay for say a bottom spec S22+.

Greetings from Switzerland, I noticed your channel today and I watched many of your videos, you make really good comparisons, but I have a comparison suggestion that no one has done. You should test phones from different brands that you use yourself or that your friends have used for 1 or 2 years. Because in general, most of the new phones give good performance. The most important thing for a consumer is its performance after using it for 1 year or after using it for 2 years. Which phone offers better performance to the user who is more loyal to the owner, this is the main thing we need to learn. It will get a very good result when you make a video like this. Because people wonder about the performance a new phone will get after 1 year, not the performance it will get on the first day. thank you again for your great videos I hope you will consider this suggestion good luck

@MellowMood pixel experience looks like those first time androids imo and is over hyped material you is over hyped also and isn't really that impressive in my humble opinion and the performance margin of what custom roms give these days are negligible considering miui has been focusing on optimization and not appearance

Hi TechNick. I was wondering if you've ever compared front camera videos on a flagship 4K TV. I compared my huawei p40 pro 4k and FHD. There is no difference. I've also compared it on other phones and had similar results.. It's similar with the rear cameras. I saw the real difference between 4k and FHD when I was shooting video on a mirrorless camera. I think Xiaomi knows why it does this.

I've been using Samsung phones since the Galaxy S2, I used some LGs and iPhones as work devices, but I was always Samsung fanboy, I wanted to give Xiaomi or Oppo a chance but never liked the UI( based in what I've seen online qnd not personal experience) last month I bought Mi 12T and I love MIUI, I mean I still prefer One UI but MIUI is so good and well optimized now.

Honestly, then Zenfone series from Asus should be definitely a formidable device under the radar. There are so many clever hidden practical gestures and features that blow my mind away. I own the Zenfone 9 and I'm telling you it is the most refreshing experience on Android from Asus I've used in a very long time. Definitely looking forward for future models from Asus Zenfone series

I've owned my 12 Pro for 6 months and got rid of most or hidden most of the bloatware and haven't came across a single bug, I kinda agree with the camera but at the same time I'd rather have the fastest charging phone on the market than a 4k selfie, it's all about priorities for specific lifestyles but I feel like having a good enough 1080p camera with an amazing battery is the best of both. You can still take clear selfies and you can fully charge your phone in the time it takes to use the bathroom. Instead of a 4k camera and a 40 minute charge time..

There are actually a couple of ways to remove 60 FPS limit in games on Xiaomi phones: 1. Clear all data of "Battery & Performance" app 2. Clear all data and force stop or uninstall the "Joyose" app

I also have 12 pro but i have a reason to upgrade, i love the cameras of 12 pro and have 8000+ photos in just 6 months from its camera but what i need is good battery bcz i only get a screen time of 5 hrs with full brightness as i also travel here and there so apart from cameras the only thing i want is good battery and 13 pro just gives double the battery life so i may choose 13 pro over 12 pro

So here in the US we have basically two options, Apple & Samsung if you want a high-end device. I really like the look of this device. Hope that when it's launched globally that it'll work on AT&T or T-mobile US.

@Artdog Not exactly true. I have a global Xiaomi 12 that works perfectly on AT&T with full 4G/5G support. The Mi 11T I had previously didn't work very well (it would drip signal after a while) but worked perfectly on Mint Mobile. I can't speak for the Chinese versions of these phones.

@TechNick Mainly will be better zoom and a better ultrawide camera but probably won't be that much else apart from that. They'll also give better image processing. Xiaomi usually gives inferior image processing on their pro models compared to ultra models (e.g. the 11pro had significantly worse image processing than the 11 ultra despite using the same main camera hardware)

All Xiaomi phones will work on T-Mobile in the US. I have the Xiaomi Mix 4 as my daily on Mintmobile, which uses T-Mobile towers. My Poco F3 works well on it too. I've used both on many different T-Mobile MNVOs. AT&T has unfortunately whitelisted Xiaomi phones, so you'll have to use an AT&T MNVO like Red Pocket to have AT&T service. I'd double check that though because AT&T is being very aggressive with blocking foreign phones. I haven't been able to get 5G though, but many say they are getting it in the US.

You can prevent miui from disabling background apps in the battery settings and in the individual app configuration.

Pro tip: You have to go to setting - manage apps - search for "battery and performance " - clear the app data. This is how you can get full 120 fps in games on Xiaomi devices.

Dear Nick, this is the first time im seeing your channel, and i loved the video and presentation. You obviously know what you're doing! This is precisely why im a bit confused to why you would wear a shirt like that in a nice studio like yours. They don't seem to fit on the same quality level. Cheers and good luck in the future!

Tbh if there even was a better phone coming out than Xiaomi i would still grab a Xiaomi because that software is the best for me! But i would wait for the latest Xiaomi black shark to release because after getting an black shark 4 i cant live without my pop up triggers!

Just have to wait for the global version of miui 14 to see if we will get the same functionality in miui 14 we might get the new control centre like on the Chinese version

@Troy Bakker the poco laughter is better than the stock launcher on my redmi note 10 Pro I downloaded it from the Google play store and that version has more customization than the stock launcher on my phone the only problem is that I can only use 3rd party launchers with on screen buttons I don't think that xiaomi will change that in the new update but I'm hoping that there will more customization with the stock launcher

@JASON MCMEEKIN so i already have it then. I think the chances are pretty big that the next miui will provide that feature for you. Maybe I have it cuz its a Poco Personally i use the old control panel because that can show me how much data i used today and how much i still have left for the month and for me this is really handy

@Troy Bakker that's right the Chinese version the quick settings are different the brightness and volume are on the right the WiFi and mobile data toggle are stacked on top of each other tried the apk version and you can't customizie it when you change themes so I stuck with the original one hopefully it will be available to customizie it when we get the miui 14 update

@JASON MCMEEKIN hmmm Cuz i can change it in the tab notifications and control panel The new one has notifications if you swipe down on the left side and if you swipe down on the right side you get the quick settings like bluetooth and wifi.

Got it, the MIUI software has imporved alot on preformance, its very important to most peopl ebecasue the laggy miui 12.5 is unaccpetable, this changes everything! Well done Xiaomi.

@机器人乃ㄖㄒ No ° U The latest a13 update for 12/12 pro (especially) got "icons colouring" option for monet icons. The thing is that it supports some icons, especially the google ones, but not the miui ones (for now, maybe)

try to swipe up (not totally exit) while in game and you got 120fps all of game. before that you already 120fps in display settings.

Whatever Xiaomi did, Samsung will stay leading the Global market I have been a Xiaomi fan since 2017, but there is still alot of time for Xiaomi to beat Samsung when it comes to popularity and the durability of the devices by passing time

I want to know the CPU is 45 percent More power efficient but if you do a battery test it'll probably be like 8 hours of screen on time like before. I understand they kick up the performance what it seems like the battery always dies just like it always did.
