I was stupid enough to buy probably a half dozen Xikars over the years. I thought How can you go wrong since they have a lifetime warranty? The answer is that they always fail and it is a pain in the ass and a $7 postage ding plus delays in use to keep sending these lousy products in for repair. All the time. They inevitably stop working even using their fuel and recommended refilling practices. I now buy 4 Chinese triple torch lighters at a time under $4 each. I am constantly giving them to friends and we all have the same lighters for 4 years or more without failure.

I have a Xikar EX soft flame that is 9 years old and still works perfectly. Not all of them are bad, albeit many are. I've used it to light well over 1000 cigars and it's my go-to lighter

I’ve got the XP4. Quad jet and the Executive II. Both have been excellent. Lighters are a relatively cheap collectible for our cigar smoking hobby. I enjoy all different brands and types.

I think your looking at it wrong. The offer a cash offer vs replacement. Always take the money because you can find promo codes or sales on the website. Typically you can save about 15 bucks each replacement

@@rollingchopsticks I have smoked cigars for 30 years and owned more than a few expensive lighters and bought some for less. They all light a cigar. My current one was $45 for the lighter and a heavy duty cutter. I just ordered them again to take the second set up to the lake. Just because something is expensive doesn’t make it better.

Lifetime warranties come with a price. No one else offers a warranty beyond 2 years unless you pay extra for it. I figure that's why most xikars are a bit pricey.

Other point to remember is, no one else offers anything like this, most soft flames are small or targeted towards pipe smokers, this is something unique as it's a larger lighter with a big flame for cigar smokers. The build quality and styling are also top notch, it's a fashion piece on top of all the utility it brings. Do I want it cheaper? Yes please! but it is what it is and it's justified in most peoples eyes I think.

Purchased last week. Arrived yesterday and it did not work. Wheel spins freely, so something is not connected internally. This is poor QC. Obviously Xikar does not test it's products as they go through assembly. This is the last xikar I buy. Sticking with cheaper lighters or dupont products.

Can you use zippo flints?
@michaelnolan5300
Ай бұрын
Not really, I have one and tried it with zippo flints, and it failed to light 9 times out of 10. The Xikar flints are way, way softer than zippo's so they produce a lot more spark when you strike it. The big roll bar doesn't allow you to use very much force compared to the tiny radius of a zippo's striker wheel, so if you combine that with the harder zippo flints, you can't get enough force to produce large enough sparks to actually light a Meridian. But I don't see this as that much of an issue because Xikar flints are cheap, and I use them in all my flint lighters now because the softer flint = bigger spark = more reliable lighting on all lighters. Yeah they wear down faster than zippo flints, but not enough to actually be a concern.
