God this is brilliant!!! This was some of the most creative shit happening in 1978. When that rock-n-roll book case is built, XTC will be right up on the top shelf with The Beatles. Thanks for posting.

This is from (probably) May 1978. This is the first episode of Revolver, and it was broadcast in May 1978. It's not from April, because it's easy enough to see that Andy had a hair trim, after leaving his hair go for months.

I'm beginning to wonder if Barry's keyboard was messed up in this performance, that thing got messed up at least once. Or maybe it's just the layer of the instrument tracks, I can't imagine this is exactly as the crowd heard it when they were there.

I have loved everything XTC has done almost (except for Dear God, and similar sentiments), but the synthesizer in the verse is kind of hard to get my head around, if you know what I mean. I just can't understand the chords, but they sound cool, though. Anybody know what I mean?
