just thought it was interesting to note: the composer of this piece Kengyo Yoshizawa (吉沢検校) was born in 1800, which makes his Western contemporaries Franz Schubert (born 1797), Hector Berlioz (1803), Felix Mendelssohn (1809), Frederic Chopin (1810), Robert Schumann (1810), Franz Liszt (1811)

12 Years ago you asked, i read it today. The lyrics are the beginning of an almost 1000-Year-old Story, "The Tale of the Heike" or Japanese: Heike Monogatari". And in English it is like this: The Temple Bell reminds You, that everything must pass, like the most beautiful flowers that will soon wither. This Tale of the Heike is part of the national heritage of Japan and most People there know at least something of it.
Anybody know what she is singing about? Would love to know the context

The lyrics are from an ancient Heian poem called Chidori no kyoku, Plover's song. There's a word play on the bird's cry, which sounds like "chiyo", thousand years. At Shionoyama Frequenting the sand spit Plovers call out: ‘You, my lord, May you live eight thousand years!’ ‘You, my lord, May you live eight thousand years!’ At Awaji Island (near Kobe in the Kansai region) The call of the plovers, Flying to and fro. How often they have awakened The guard at Suma Pass! How often they have awakened The guard at Suma Pass!

I am a metalhead too. And I really into folkmetal. But I like folk music too. And I will probably sound really anoying while saying (writing) this, but the fact that you are (or anybody is) a metalhead, doesn't mean you can't like more relaxed/quiet (at least compared to metal) type of music.
