自分も少し前にHiNativeで「I have studied English for years. と I have been studying English for years. はどう違いますか?」と質問したところ、「Both can be used the same. 」や「There is no meaningful difference between the two. 」と返ってきていましたので、非常にタイムリーな話題であったと同時に、英検1級をパスされてるような方ですらややこしい問題だったんだな、と納得しました。

I’ve lived in Japan for three years. This sentence makes it sound like someone lived in Japan for that period of time. In my opinion, it sounds like it was in the past. I’ve been living in Japan for three years. This sentences definitely emphasizes more on the current situation. On the other hand if someone says “I’ve been living in Japan for the past three years”, that would be easier to perceive that this person actually still lives there.

ネイティブに聞いたことあるけどI've been living in〜の方はtemporaryな感じがするって言われたな 一時的な滞在でそのうち離れることが決まってそうなニュアンスというか 自分もアツさんみたいにニュアンスの違い結構聞くんだけど、ほとんどのネイティブがうーん、わからん言うからネイティブほど感覚的に言語を捉えてて違い分かってないことはよくあるwww

If I want to make it clear that the experience is over, I would say "I lived in Japan for 3 years." If it's still ongoing, I would say "I have been living...". It is truly vague if you say "I have lived in Japan for 3 years". In fact, I would not combine "I have lived" with a "for" some length of time phrase. What is natural to me would be to use "since" with "have lived", as in "I have lived in Canada since 2001" (and the experience is continuing). To emphasize the nuance that the experience is in the past, I would not use the participle, but just the plain past, "I lived in Japan for 3 years."

「have livedが確実に「今も住んでいる」の意味で理解してもらえるのは”How long have you lived in Japan?”の質問に答えるときだけ」と理解しておくと良いですよ。
いつも勉強になる動画ありがとうございます。 住んでいる、ではないですが、職業を聞かれる時にいつも無意識にI’ve been teaching English for more than 10 years. と答えていました。 普通の現在完了だと、やっぱり何か違和感みたいなのは感じますね。でも学校で現在完了形を習う時には、過去のある時点から現在まで続いている「継続」の意味としても学習しますもんね。 でも継続の完了形の場合は、やはり個人的には完了進行形を好んで使います。

中学生のときに、I live in Japanと、

一般的には、定住の場合はhave lived、一時的居住はhave been livingでしょうか。

I’ve lived in Japan for 3 years.と I used to live in Japan for 3years.は同じに意味として捉えられることになるってことですか?

・現在完了形でforを使ったからといって、継続用法になるとは限らない。 (A and B are in Japan.) A : Wow, your English is amazing. B : I have lived in Australia for three years. →発話時において、Australiaにliveしていなくてもいい。 ・現在完了進行形だからといって今も続いているとは限らない。 Wow, this room is really dirty. It looks like someone has been living here for a long time. →発話時において、this roomに誰もliveしていなくてもいい。
そういう細かいニュアンスって掴むの本当難しいよね😅 例えば ‘You are entitled to your opinion.’ もっとニュアンスの出し方に関するトピックを取り上げて欲しい。

06:30 ロイヤル英文法(p698~)ですと、このような動詞に関して、現在完了形で継続の意味を表すには期間を表す語句が必要とはあります。なのでやはりI've lived in Japan.

Both have the potential to be happening now and if I heard them I would assume you were still living there (due to the perfect tense - have/has ***) Have/has + past participle has that past tense form but I wouldn’t assume that it’s over already if I heard it. However with the past tense form it has the potential to mean that it is about to end. “I have lived in Japan for three years but I go home next week. I can’t believe it!” the present particle - ing form implies happening now so it sounds like it will continue in the future. It could also imply that something else is happening as using the -ing form for a fact feels a bit temporary. “I have been living in Japan for three years while my husband is on assignment for his job. “ It’s a bit of a clunky grammar though if you can’t use it fluently so I recommend the latter!
It has been raining since last Monday. It has rained since last Monday. The latter one means it rained between last Monday and now but now it stopped. The former one is it's still raining. ALT says that. Also, I' ve been working as an English teacher since last year. I've worked as an English teacher since last year. She said, that case both sentences mean I am still working as the teacher.

This sentence is an action that started in the past contained for some time and was stopped or the focus of the sentence was changed by another action in the past. I had lived in Japan for three years when the 3.11 earthquake hit. This grammar is hard to understand and construct for even native speakers so usually there is an easier way to express it.
