To tune a saved channel you select the memory channel, press band button. You should see a small "tun" text flashing on the left corner of the screen, just punch the new frequency in or use arrow keys. At least this is how it works on my FT65E purchased recently. Maybe they updated the firmware or something to make it easier.

What Michal writes will allow you to temporarily tune to a different frequency. To save your edits permanently, you need to follow a couple more steps. After entering your new frequency, press and hold the *v/m button. Then use the up/down arrows to select the number of the channel you want to edit. (It will be flashing on the left side of the screen.) Then press and hold *v/m again to save your edit.

I picked this rig up recently and am shocked to see how complicated it is to simply use. I may have to find a local ham to help me, as I still cannot make a contact even after watching this video multiple times. Great Video! I love this radio but it is especially -quirky- Even more so than UV5 so your video is mandatory unless you want to drive yourself crazy. I have one repeater that has UHF input and VHF output, especially tricky - but you can save the VFO result to example P2 if you want. The memories don't support long offsets. The radio itself feels good in your hand, it's the radio you are proud to have with you.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only ham that uses the -V or -U or just adding the V or U to the suffix of Memory Channel Names in general. Admittedly, I use geo-locations for Memory Channel Names when possible. Here in STL Metro, locations like: BellvV or BellvU for Belleville, IL. Edw-V or Edw-U for Edwardsville, IL. Mary-V or Mary-U for Maryville, IL. AltonV or AltonU for Alton, IL. DtStlV or DtStlU for Downtown St Louis, MO. Clay-V or Clay-U for Clayton, MO. Arnd-V or Arnd-U for Arnold, MO. HighR-V1, HighR-V2, HighR-U1, HighR-U2 for the High Ridge, MO repeaters (6 or more). Etc. It really depends on the total length of the Name permitted for the Name by the individual radio. The FT-65R permits up to 8-letter character names. Making it one of the better ones.

Good question. I haven't played too much with external antennas. I could tell you to start away from the super short antennas, they are horrible (some 40:1 swr) . I do have a chart where I tested all the antennas I own, let me try to dig it up when the painters finish that room. Also, if you buy an antenna, but from a reputable dealer - if you weren't aware, there are quite a few fake diamond and comet antennas out there.

Sure. I don't have the radio in front of me at the moment but you should be in memory mode to get to 8. If you can hear the repeater but not transmit, you probably have the wrong CTCSS/PL tone in the radio or there is a possibility that you are too far to transmit, but you can still receive. I would need more information. Do you have a PL tone in the radio?

Yeah, these are Ham Radios. What bands are you trying to use them as walkie talkies on?

Your video is very good with your totally confusing why can't you just program frequencies in repeater from 1 to 10 instead of putting all these labels in putting your call sign is fine but it's just overwhelming I rather have all the frequencies in from 1 to 10 or 1 to 20 I don't know why you're going through all that it doesn't make sense to me yes your call sign that's great but the rest of it is just your way of beating track

Could possibly be my Callsign was my repeater or node. Glad you enjoyed the video

Instructions too fast. As a begginer on this radio, i meed the instructions to be a bit slower. Rewinding ...just creates confusion.
