The best part of this fight for me is how much of it is a literal metaphor. It starts with Aisawa rising from the chairman's seat knowing that it doesn't belong to him but hoping killing Kiryu will make him feel like he earned it. Instead, as the fight progresses, Kiryu forces Aisawa out the room, down the hall and further and further away from both it and the dream it represents before finally being kicked out the front door and sent flying out of the building to be left beaten out in the cold. Kiryu quite literally dragged Aisawa out of the chairman's seat and threw him out of the Tojo clan.

In a ploy to maintain some sort of legacy after his death, Kurosawa orchestrates an elaborate conspiracy in order to have his inherit both the Tojo and Omi Alliance. However, Aizawa, having been estranged from his father for so long, finds no value in this. It does not stop him from accepting this position, but he feels the need to prove himself as the strongest in order to feel worthy as clan leader. Kiryu Kazuma stands as the final obstacle in this path. But aizawa basically not knowing why tf he’s the final boss is super funny too lmao

Nobody talks about aizawa sexy tattoo. The black carp. "According to legend koi attempt to swim against the current of China’s Yellow River and up a waterfall, but only a few of them are able to swim past a point called the Dragon’s Gate. The koi who make it through the Gate are rewarded by turning into dragons. For this reason, koi carp are also a symbol of determination and a strong will to succeed, as well as strength and bravery. The black koi is associated with successfully overcoming an obstacle and symbol of masculinity, and in Japan represents the father. It often symbolizes a successful battle through struggle in one’s life. A koi swimming upstream symbolizes being in a battle or struggle, still overcoming obstacles without giving up. One thing that stuck out to me when I was fighting this guy was how often he would go for cheap shots to Kiryu's wounded stomach. Obviously it makes sense that he would whatever it took to win, but to me it showed a lack of confidence in his own strength. He knew deep down that he didn't stand a chance against Kiryu on even footing, so he latched onto the only advantage he had. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I thought it was interesting.

Despite Aizawa being the random copout final boss, at least I give him astronomically far more respect than Yakuza 6’s main villain and final boss. At least Aizawa can fight, be entertaining, and be a threat. Honestly he’s the inverse of Iwami. Where Aizawa didn’t care for his dad’s plan to give all the power to him (and fight Kiryu to believe he’s earned it), Iwami was a pampered little man child who believed he deserved it all without truly realizing what that entailed.

It will always be hilarious to me that this is the most random out of nowhere garbage final boss from a story perspective, but from a gameplay perspective this is the best fight RGG has ever made (in my opinion at least) Edit: Holy hell this blew up wtf. I've seen a lot of replies misunderstanding what I meant so I figured I should articulate my thoughts a bit better. First off, calling it "garbage" was an over exaggeration on my part, but I still maintain the sentiment that this is a pretty weak final encounter from a plot perspective. The twist that Aizawa was Kurosawa's son the whole time has little to no foreshadowing at all, and it feels completely unearned for him to suddenly be important without any buildup to it or anything. The only thing that could even qualify as a hint to it (that I remember at least, it's been a while) is the reveal the Morinaga is also Omi, but that's a stretch imo. I understand the symbolism and how the fight plays into the message of the game, I purely meant from a plot perspective only. And I still maintain that this fight is amazing in terms of gameplay. Also yes Shishido is everything Aizawa wanted to be lmao.

The entire game he's been running away from his life as a yakuza legend only until the end of the game he accepts his legend status to test aizawa to see if he can become one too. Aizawa is pretty deep too the guy wants to carve his own path but instead was given his position by his father, he has his own dream but is forced to take on the dream of his dad but finally gets his chance to prove himself by beating kiryu.

He already prove that he can face depression, he can face Nishiki, Ryuji and at the Tojo Clan Aizawa is the final point that Kiryu have to put. Definitely the most challenging final boss in the series imo, it actually felt like Kiryu had to beat someone younger and stronger than him. And the game didn't give you any kind of disadvantage because he was injured either as far as I could tell. Assuming you weren't maxed out and had all the moves of course.

I find it crazy that Kiryu not only had a bullet wound in the same place but a second one really close to his shoulder joint in the end of kiwami 2 and still managed to kick Ryuji's ass whom he said was the strongest man he's ever fought.

Yakuza 5 was actually on par with 0 for me. Maybe it's because going from Kiwami 1/2 to 3 and 4 pissed me off but 5 was so much fun that I didn't care about how long the fight was. It's the same length as a long battle in 0 but holy shit it went hard

Aizawa started with nothing, then was willing to betray his oath brother for power, and proved his strength against Saejima. He's Nishiki if he had beaten Kiryu, so the black koi is REALLY fitting

Say what you want about the plot, in terms of gameplay and cinematics, this fight is by far one of the most amazing. I was really getting down a bit toward the end after freaking Shinada's fight (Because seriously screw his combat style), but this.....this made it all worth it. Kiryu, Saejima, Akiyama, grew to love these characters.

Aizawa is misunderstood character. His role into the story is very different. He wasn't even the main bad guy of the story. His father was. The Yakuza fans just repeat what others says. Like A Broken Record. It's the case with JoJo fans. Where other listen to others what they say. I remember how the main villain of the eight part got huge amount of hate because it wasn't what they expected. Senator Armstrong also appeared at the very end of MGR yet nobody said a thing. Why does Aizawa sudden reveal is such a big deal? Also weird how the out of nowhere chars gets the best fights.

@@MasatakaEbina He's still bad in the sense that he massacred those tojo guys to prove he can make it to the top by his own hands. But yeah, his father forcing the dream upon him under the assumption that Aizawa is incapable of doing it is still pretty shitty.

@@angelusvastator1297 If it was a massacre. Shit ton of blood would have been on everywhere. However it was mostly just on some few places. And blood on the walls? The heat action where you punch someone on a wall exists. Aizawa did held a katana but it wasn't even bloodied. It was the tojo clan katana. And the dudes were actually gone in Aizawa fight. And remember how Aizawa and Kiryu were bloodied after their fight.
