What's your ranking for Kiryu combats?: Mine are: 0 with quick change clothes > Kiwami 1 > 5 > Gaiden > Kiwami 2 > 4 > 3 > 6. I like ALL Kiryu combats EXCEPT for 3, 4, and 6...which feel HORRIBLE to me personally. Haven't played OG 1 or OG 2, haven't played Ishin or Kenzan either.

oh this is tough haha. my ranking’s probably: Kiwami 1 > Yakuza 5 = Gaiden > Yakuza 0. The rest are all pretty good and i enjoy them esp Y3/4. Y6 is the only one I can’t stand. Its really dull and sluggish. I only play Y6 with style switch mods on PC nowadays. OG Yakuza 2 is really good, smooth and snappy. It has aged gracefully. I also really liked Ishin. Give them a try if possible :)

So how is Gaiden? Heard Yakuza is the better style, and Agent seems a little unfinished. Also, no NG+ which is really disappointing.

Gaiden is really good. I’d say better than Judgement, but not quite the level of Lost Judgement or Kiwami 1 imo. Agent style is incredibly fun with fast quick-step cancellable strikes that let you dance around bosses like Rush style from 0/Kiwami. Gadgets are a joy and are quite helpful in large mobs. There’s also a lot of synergy between both styles and room for creative plays whether its for juggle combos or with gadgets. Extreme heat mode offers a unique rush combo and 3 types of counters. Yakuza style is basically Kiwami 2 DoD except way better. There are triple finishers and every move can be charged even redirected combos. Lots of ways to Juggle enemies and even bosses. It is a bit slower but makes up for it by offering heavy hitting charged attacks that cant be interrupted. My only gripe is there are a few moves missing like counter quickstep, komaki parry, etc.. Just stuff that old DoD had. There’s definitely a learning curve to using this style. Yakuza style overall could have added more mechanics such as style bonuses and temporary buffs like LJ, but its good. Oh this game on hardest difficulty is definitely the most aggressive AI we have see. Its a pretty tough game. Really could have used a NG+ to replay since this is also the most action heavy Yakuza.

@@Badshah044 >Good but not quite the best That's what I've heard too. The combat is probably A tier like Judgement, instead of S tier like LJ. At least it's not bad though. >Agent style extreme heat mode Sounds cool, though I've heard that extreme heat mode's rush combos replace the normal rush combos, instead of supplementing them like in LJ (where the EX boost rush combos are different than the normal rush combos). >Yakuza style is better than K2's version Good to know. >Temporary buffs Apparently if you hit an enemy who's grounded with a charge attack in Yakuza style, you'll get a speed boost. The game doesn't tell you this though. You can try it out. >Enemies are aggressive on the highest difficulty This is encouraging to hear. What is it called again? Professional? Weird name, to be honest. I would just stick to Legend as the highest difficulty. >No NG+ is a bummer Yes, which is why I'm not getting it now. Hopefully they'll either patch it, or I'll get it on PC where someone can mod it in.

@@fattahyahya2106 >In regards to Judgement I feel confident in saying that Gaiden eclipses Judgement mechanically given both of Gaiden styles are well developed and offer interesting utilization whereas Crane in Judgement felt like an afterthought. Gaiden also has smoother juggling which feels fun and strategic to pull off against bosses but allows consistent damage. >Yakuza speed Yes i noticed the speed buff on grounded enemies and not quite understand this design decision. Unless they thought faster Yakuza style would be too OP and trivialize bosses since charged finishers almost always launch or Juggle. Heat actions are also pretty broken in this game against singular bosses. Dragon God and Ultimate essence only use one segment of the heat bar thus can be abused against bosses, but feel overall balanced for mobs since you fight small army sized mobs with minibosses. Downside is getting heat in extreme heat mode removes heat rapidly so you can’t autopilot it. Yakuza style overall is really fun but comes with a learning curve. Its just a bummer some of the moves and abilities were removed. >Agent Extreme heat rush combos are indeed unique and also juggle bosses. Its neat. I do think non heat mode Agent could’ve used some more defense options and ways to knockdown bosses, but it has a similar fast quickstep cancel that you can use to bully bosses like you can with Rush in Kiwami/Y0. >Difficulty Professional is the highest difficulty and one of 3 difficulty available atm and it’s harder than any of the previous games. I really hope NG+ will be added in a patch or dlc. I do think with mods, this combat system can be enhanced even more, we will see.

@@Badshah044 >Better than Judgement That so? You're right, Crane in that game is underwhelming other than starting a juggle or using EX mode. >With speed boost it would trivialize bosses I don't see the issue. Especially since enemies are faster and more aggressive. At least I can install a mod for PC. Do you know a combo/string to juggle with Agent style? All the videos I'm seeing are using Yakuza to set up juggling. >Extreme heat mode Also, it looks like you can only use finishing holds if you're in extreme heat mode. Weird decision. >Agent quickstep cancel I've heard not every string can be cancelled though. Is this true? Also, sucks that knocking down enemies are harder with this style. >Mods will make the game better For sure. I'm looking forward to TripleAAA's Legend Remix for this game. He did it for other games, you can check them out.

@@fattahyahya2106 >Speed I personally dont think it would trivialize the bosses. I was just trying to brainstorm as to why they would intentionally lower the speed. FWIW, i dont want it to be as fast as agent or rush styles - i just think a slight increase as well as decrease in charge time would be sufficient - perhaps maybe make it so that speed increases in extreme heat mode? dunno. Combined with aggressive enemies, I have found myself being more engaged and strategic in picking my combo strings and positioning. Redirected combos and finishers are done really well and provide great utility for crowd control. Bounding throw is significantly buffed and improved from K2/Y6 and destroys crowds so thats why its relegated to Heat mode…Personally i never like the DE bounding throws so i cant be bothered. Komaki knockback has been also buffed significantly. >Agent style All the rush combos can be quickstep cancelled and with the exception of STT, i believe most of the finishers can be cancelled as well. I am fine with this. Even previos Yakuz games as well as judgement didnt allow every combo to be cancelled. As far as juggles go, spider yank + punch allows easy juggling as well as a few others do juggle but I found them trickier to pull off - i will need to lab more. Extreme heat rush combos juggles even bosses as well. >Knockdown with Agent Every non-boss enemy is knocked down with any combo with a heavy finisher with agent such as STT, SSTT etc. Bosses do have more poise and only suffer from pushbacks and staggers from agent finishers, not knockdowns. I recommend you check out Shrimp4Life and a few other players like Kiwami to see high level Gaiden plays and combos. I will also try to upload more Gaiden stuff later once i get more comfortable around the game. >Mods TripleAAA is great..when I do play the entire series on PC, i will certainly use his mods. Cheers to him for his great work…btw someone has already modded in the OG DoD…i really wish RGG had included it in as well as a secret bonus style. If not that, then atleast they should have incorporated its moves into the Yakuza style more..disappointing.
