Jason you totally cracked me up with your preferred method of wood removal. I did not see that coming. Nice fast install. Thanks for showing all this and explaining how to disassemble and rekey. Totally takes away the scariness of coming across one of these. Now I must go make sure my chainsaw is sharpened incase I ever need to install one of these. Thanks mate

Lol, never get tired of woody jokes 😂 Also loved that you pulled out a chainsaw! Looked nuts 😂 Next time you need to do a sketchy rekey you should pull one out.. and you know no one would mess with you 😜 Those lock seem a solid as anything, they look really interesting! Thanks for sharing Jason!

Great video Jason, beautiful locks, I don’t run across them often but think I have seen them on some old Town Hall doors in some towns in my area (and when I do, I always wonder who does their locksmithing, lol). Thank you for sharing, and adding a chainsaw to my tool bag now 😁

I’ve seen something similar in the wild. Didn’t need to re-key it as the customer just wanted a deadbolt installed. I just remembered it was well made and very heavy duty.

Hi Jason thanks for doing the video. Very educational. I would guess the wooden handles manufacture was outsourced, and was possibly the same company that all the other lock companies used.

I had a whole preschool full of old Corbin Russwin unit locks I had to repair and rekey as the dual shear line key cylinders wore out and stopped working. I couldn't figure put how to get the cylinders out so I took the first one to four lock shops. Three looked at it and told me they had no clue how to take them apart. The last place told me to leave it so he could try to figure it out later. I had to lock the door that night so I couldn't leave it. Fortunately I found one youtube video that showed a guy removing that stupid little E clip way down in there that released the key knob. I made my own retaining clips to hold the latch sliders out of the way so I could reach those clips and fought with those E clips until I found an E clip tool online that made it much easier to get those clips back on. What a pain those things were! Eventually I replaced all of them with modern classroom function locks using wrap around lock and door reinforces.

A shame you were not tasked with putting in NEW UNIT LOCKS with levers, and LFIC cores. The Corbin/Russwin lock was my fav. I have a lever entry function one on my front counter... but never sold one.

@@citylockapolytechnikeyllcc7936 It's a preschool, not a government facility. Do a quick search to see what just one new classroom function Corbin unit lock costs. $$$$!

I have never encountered the YALE MONOLOCK. At some point, they redesigned a 6500LN "Monolock Replacement" but it looks like the worse of two good ideas.... no more Pullman latch and dead latch above or below..... the dead latch trigger. is behind a standard latch. it with a lever for ADA in the 70s, or was it long ago discontinued ? Next video; Sargent Integra ? The one you show with pushbutton on both sides is interesting.... a non-keyed version of a hotel suite function..... most hotels later put two doors back to back on one frame No VESSEL cordless back in the day, but they had the YANKEE CORDLESS Screwdriver by Stanley.... everyone used those before MAKITA busted the US cordless tool ceiling with the first usable rechargeable driver-drill

I have one on my back door, never defeated. We never had the key, local locksmith accused me of building it myself. It was working perfectly until an idiot painted it. I got it to work, but nobody around me will try to rekey it .
