For a little context, this was released in the wake of the tsunami / fukushima nuclear reactor situation, and the band was highly critical of their government's handling (which included heavy misinformation). The video has a lot of references to radiation, with the tentacles described by the band as representing a sort of engrained cultural feeling of control and violation by outside forces.

The Different Sense music video is based around a few things. One of the main things is one of the many bizarre things in this music video was essentially a painting from awhile ago That was basically a version of pornography so in essence the video is basically about pornography taking control over ones senses and it also has underlying themes about radioactivity but yeah this band is hard to explain even as someone who's listened to them for years. The video is very NSFW which is why the recommended way to watch them is to watch live tracks as they make the videos for their dedicated fanbase who know to look into what the video is really about. The Final (Fan Favorite Track well loved and often is the final song if not the song right before the encore): kzitem.info/news/bejne/q6R7sIt8opSCfKQ Obscure (Ushered in a new era of heavier tones and sounds but also being unique in it's own way: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s5mg0KyBrqqhfm0 Ruten No Tou (Kyo who is the vocalist started to show off in this track with his range and it's amazing with what he can do): kzitem.info/news/bejne/k2uPnJOtiGNolnY Vinushka (I don't need to explain to Dir En Grey fans what this track means but since you guys are new I will give a basic rundown, this is essentially their masterclass, their most important song): kzitem.info/news/bejne/o4yep4p-nKdepWU Shitataru Mourou (Kyo goes wild with his vocals and shows off pure technical prowess): kzitem.info/news/bejne/sXqatJaBnmWAnmU Mazohyst of Decadence (Yes, they spelled it as Mazohyst instead of Masochist it is intentional. One of if not their darkest song ever written, will give you gossebumps): kzitem.info/news/bejne/04h4v5WBpqKUhHY MushI (Painful song to listen to lyrically it will make you cry guaranteed): kzitem.info/news/bejne/lYCE2Y2npXunrXo These are just a few amazing tracks from their list of 10 albums and 3 EP's I really hope you enjoy these :)

Dir En Grey is from the 90's, so I think that Kyo (this vocalist) is an inspiration for Keisuke (Deviloof vocalist)

The video is using tentacle art/heantai as a metaphor for radiation poisoning and being stuck in the grip of a lying government. Most of that album is about Fukushima.

But, who the heck asked for different sense? -*Different sense* -*Obscure* -*Embryo* -*Cage* -*The trilogy of the videos of Saku, Kudou, Revelation of men kind.* -*Ochita Koto no Aru Sora* Don't expect pink flowers, butterflies, kittens, and marshmallows on those videos. 😏 Those are better to be watch on the privacy of you own room, if you feel your channel may be at risk of going up in flames.

"The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" is a famous Japanese erotic woodblock print from the early 19th century that depicts a woman being eaten out by an octopus. It's by Hokusai, the same artist that made the Great Wave, so it's quite influential.

Please do them again and do them live. There are many great links in the comment section :) Like sacreo 920 wrote this was their first single released after the earthquake that lead to the whole Fukushima incident. The ocean is a really mystical place if you think about it. Japan is surrounded by water so they are trapped on an island under which the earth plates constantly move - at the same time they are dependent on the water and value it like no other country. This mix between fear and love is almost automaticaly erotic. But then, with the atomic bombs it became a new kind of scary which is mirrored in the art of its time with Gojira etc. Dir en grey's director definitely played with that image here in connection to the uncertainty that came after Fukushima. On a personal note: I always find it a bit funny how they censore the tentacle hentai parts but keep the real stuff as it is 😁
