My wife is from Yamagata and we've been here countless times, it never gets old. Not so easy in the middle of winter.

Agreed, that view from the platform atop Yamadera is beyond beautiful. The only thing that compares is the view you provided us from the outlook to the ocean when you traveled to Kochi and this time you didn't even need a drone to get such a spectacular vantage point. The Fall foliage reminds of the mountain sides near Yuzawa when we were teaching there in Fall of 2019. It also rivals the views of the Fall foilage that we had from the cable car as we descended down into Arima Onsen (which is itself above Kobe.). Thanks for providing the catalyst to revive those memories.

I went to Yamadera in the dead of winter and nearly missed this viewing platform. Didn't miss much though as the only view I got was a whiteout😅. This autumn view though, is stunning!
