The GREATEST improvement of this series of Yamaha BB basses is the fact that you can now install aftermarket pickups. The major achilles heel of all BB basses was that Yamaha designed their pickups with their stock design-only components that never allowed you to swap out the pickups with aftermarket upgrades without making some drastic alteration to the pickup cavity on the body. The pre-amp still needs work, but it's tolerable.

Yes, the preamp needs some improvement. For that reason i use passive mode always. I’m looking for Seymour Duncan or aguilar pickups for it now. But in overall it’s a great bass. Thanks for comment!

After 1 year playing it. I'm very happy with it. I miss the feel and the simplicity of the P Bass, but this one is more versatile. If you can, try it first, and check if the instrument makes you feel good and musically inspired. Regards from Spain!

You can really hear the beautiful tone of that bass when you only have a drum track in the background! Thumbs up! I've been trying to stay out of music stores because I don't want to be tempted, but your demo has got me thinking. :) Do you like how it sounds for slap/pop too?

For modern music this bass is perfect for the price! But nothing like the feel and character of the P bass. I'm very glad with this bass, but I miss the feel, and the simplicity of the P. And I don't know how, the p sounds good on any style, always, even with flats! Stay at home 😂!

Bass sounds terrific Edu! How's the bass feel compared to a Fender Jazz?
@akusbass
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bro! It feels better in everything! It's more comfortable. Strings sound like piano bass. It's light. Each microphone has its very different sound, being the sound of the micro P, equal to or better than that of a P bass, and the J being the same. It's an incredible bass. Try to prove it. You're going to be surprised!

What kind strings use you? Thanks

Hi! Those in particular are the standard strings. D'addario XL nickel. 130. Those strings loose the bright sound very fast. But they keep the usability a lot. I'm looking for a new set to make a new test. Regards!

do you like the sire v7 or this one better?
@akusbass
Жыл бұрын
Hi! This one is a better bass, but more expensive. I think the sire is a great deal for the money. For me the cons of the sire is the weight, but I love the feel and look of a classic jazz bass. If you can, try all the bass that you like, and try to find your instrument thinking in your personally and musical tastes. That’s the key in our search for the best instrument. Happy new year! Best regards from Spain!

@@akusbass interesting that the Yamaha is more expensive as where I live it's about the same.
