@@JoeLinux2000 From what I have been able to find out is that the DGX670 has the same keyboard as the P-45 and other legacy Yamaha pianos. These keyboard have a reputation of failing usually just after the warranty runs out. Otherwise this is a very good instrument.

@@JoeLinux2000 The action is indeed the same as P45. But I tell you what, this piano has taught me how important the sampling is because I have never enjoyed playing the Yamaha P45. It feels a little lifeless in comparison. (Sorry, P45 lovers!) The DGX670 has a newer and better piano sample AND uses the VRM sampling tech. When I first played the piano on it I could not believe the difference that could make. (I’ve gone ahead and bought one today :-))

I think the thing I'm most excited about with the Adaptive/Unison styles is how I can use the triple pedal system to integrate and control aspects of the style with my foot while I'm playing. Things like activating unison effects or engaging other voices or layers without taking my hands of the keys opens up some really interesting possibilities in my mind.

With two separate jacks for pedals, is it possible to hook up both a single pedal and the triple for a total of four pedals that are all assignable?
@chrisonpiano
3 жыл бұрын
You’re so right. I’m very curious to try this. I liked the Unison styles but could have done with an extra pedal to switch between variations ABCD. With the adaptive styles, I want to try tweaking the sensitivity to see how differently it reacts to my playing.
@chrisonpiano
3 жыл бұрын
@@chriscrawford1958 I think so. I’m not by it now, but I think there is a socket for regular pedal, and a separate one for the 3 pedal unit. So, in theory yes, you could do that. Whether the OS will cope with it, I don’t know. I’ll test it out soon and see.

Hi Chris, I understand you play by ear but for those who can read music there's one feature on the Yamaha DGX-670 that I believe stands out. When you record your playing on the DGX-670 it has the ability to transpose and show you the sheet music graphically during playback as well as being able to print out what you played and recorded onto sheet music. I've never heard of such a thing! So if I record as I noodle around any sounds I like can be easily transposed and printed if I want to save them. How cool is that!?

Chris, very nice playing. I'm an early intermediate player, trying to become a solo, jazz-standard and pop player. I'm trying to wrap my head around the fantastic "unison backing technology." It really looks like a fun and powerful tool, but is it possible that it could inhibit a player from learning to play a true solo gig on an acoustic piano? I mean, if you didn't happen to have your DGX 670, you might not be able to play?? Does that make sense? BTW I was fascinated with the P-515 before I listened to this 670!

I noticed that when you were using the adaptive style feature, it seemed like the harder you played, it would move to the next style sequentially. Did you try playing very soft, and then very hard? I am curious to know if you did that, would the keyboard jump from style A, straight to style D, or does it only go through the styles in order. (A-B-C-D) Thanks! PS. I enjoyed your playing, it was very good. 🙂 Mark
@ePianoscouk
3 жыл бұрын
Cheers, Mark. I certainly tried playing very soft and then gradually increasing to very hard. The Adaptive style variation will indeed jump straight from A to D if you play the keys hard enough. I really had to experiment with my playing to see what reaction I would get. I have read in the manual that you can change the sensitivity required, which is great. Personally speaking, I think the defualt setting is too sensitive for my playing, so I intend to tweak it and see what results I get. I will report back in the next video! - Take care. - @chrisonpiano

It wouldn't surprise me if they do exactly that, Mark. The Yamah Genos version 2.0 update was massive, adding new features and a bunch of voices & styles, and SX-series uses that same operating system Let's hope that Unison and Adaptive styles get positive feedback and work their way up to the workstation models. Hi, Alvaro. You are able to do this with some Yamaha keyboards like PSR, Tyros, and Genos. But as far as I know, you can't do it with DGX670 yet. 1. You can insert a USB and record a wav audio file of anything you play on the DGX670 (except within Piano Room). That's what I did in this video. 2. If your pre-recorded piano performace was on a USB, then you'd insert the USB first, then choose a style to play along with. The only difficulty would be getting the timing right, but this can be done with practice, or by recording a count in. Hope that helps.
