I am trying to get into flying I 've been looking at Hawks and Challengers. I can get a Challenger cheap all it needs is a engine and I like the way this is setup on yours. Where did you get the bracket to mount the engine? What is your top speed? Thanks

Hello Travis, I'm glad you like it. The rate of climb is somewhere in the neighborhood of 900 FPM at about 900# gross weight. The take off roll is brisk. I have not taken the time to measure either accurately. I am running a 3.47:1 gearbox, so the prop is spinning 2305rpm at full throttle. I have about 50 hours on this engine and hope to put at least another 50 on this season. So far, I am very happy with the way it performs.

I would love some info on the adapter plate and how you made it work and any other special mods that had to be done. Im currently looking into using a 4-stroke sled engine on my ultralight aircraft as well. Any help would be appreciated. Message me on here and we can exchange numbers if you want. Thanks!

Did you have to get another DAR inspection due to the radical engine change? Your first inspection, for your Airworthiness Certificate, would be predicated on the original engine, i.e. rotax, etc. Thanks.

How did you calculate the angle of attack on the engine mount? I notice that most pusher engines are mounted with about 10 degs of angle or so.

nice job. would also love to know exactly what parts of the snow mobile drive train you used and what you added to get to the prop.

I see this is an old post- so how is the engine holding up? I see these in use more and mor lately as a higher power lower cost alternative to the 912 series. I’m interested to know the TBO either actual or projected? Thanks, Tom

The only thing I see designed for aircraft use is the rotax gearbox.
