Just picked up one today running for $200 in Atlanta. Pretty good shape for the year. Not all beat up. Good tips and great video!

I have one just like that, I think mine is a 79, I redid the engine, it's not all that hard to take out, I put new crank seals and piston and rings, head gasket, I think it was a little over 100 dollars, I got the parts off ebay, if the CDI module ever goes out, that is the expensive part, over 200 dollars for that, this one will run 22 mph and is pretty stout, I can pull my trailer that I haul that cart in with the trailer loaded with junk. anyway, I like mine, I really like that the top raises up so the motor is completely exposed.

Just bought a G1 1981 last week with a 540 60 HP snowmobile Yamaha engine,, guy gave up on it had frame rust from battery leaking,, and even has rebuilt orginal engine also,, 200 bucks I couldn't pass it up,, they are really built very well that steering box is better than any rack and pinion..

I just picked up a 1987 that's in much better condition then yours for $150 with a top and decent tires, the guy said he thinks it needs a clutch I can't find anywhere on it any information but it looks like yours. Here it's legal to drive them on the roads. I'm like you it will be a learning curb for me as well. Thanks for posting.

nice, i picked up a yamaha golf kart set up for a gas motor, minus the motor, why it was so cheep. im either gonna use a 6.5 hp motor or hopin the 22hp twin i bot will fit. havta have some time to mess with it. with mine i was gonna go lower, since itll mostly just go over to folks place with it. was maybe gonna look into air shocks or adjustable bike shocks. mine has 2 sets of tires, the 8" set stockers or 10" bigger rims. when i get to workin on it ...👍

A friend on KZitem build a diesel golf cart and it was 100% street legal he used a 2 cylinder Kubota diesel it didn't go very fast but it was very reliable. I encourage you to check out Matt's Madness. I have the golf cart a while back until I got tired with it after the engine dropped a valve seat. When I was going to sell it the guy who bought it pointed something out to me sometimes the engines are backwards rotation, don't know if it's the same for 2-stroke or not it would suck to get it all put together and you go and take off and it's going backwards instead of forwards.

I say with all that you already have, what do you still need? It could make a cool looking side by side ride? An air cooled Honda engine in this would be cool, ...if it would work? Make it safe enough for the road and get it registered for plates? Depends on what you want and need. Great vid, and hope to see more of Fugazi too?

That's pretty sweet... I'd like to see you replace those single control arms with a solid front axle and a 3 link with a track bar... I bet u could keep the stock steering and shocks and get more travel/articulation and I'd try to stay away from lifting it too much but maximum possible ground clearance, big mean tires, off-road bumpers.... U know general badassness. Check out my homemade quad I'm building it's got a gx clone and a 3 speed transmission

I doubt it has crank journals. More than likely it has ball bearings. If it were me I'd pull it apart and inspect the bearings but plan to redo the top end. It's not like running a 4 stroke without oil. The top end will sieze long before you damage the bottom end. On a single cylinder you could likely remove the bearings with a bearing puller/splitter if you had to.

Sprocket's Garage I have a 1991 cushman gt1, simular to the hawk but a base model with no cab. It's nearly complete but my issue with it is the second day clutch doesn't work properly. I suspect it was swapped put with one from a snowmobile. Otherwise finding a belt seems to be a major problem. So at least for now that cart is on the back burner. I built up a Chinese golf cart/mini utv over the past year and now I'm building an 89? Yamaha g2 with a 4" suspension lift, big tires and a honda gx 340. I'm working in plans for many more upgrades including a roll bar, and a bush bumper. I'll be posting a video soon detailing what I have done so far and what I plan to do in the future with this cart. Hopefully you'll come have a look when I get that done

Would like to see a fuel system rebuild on this model. Just bought one love the old style engineering but mine spits and sputters at start up..have heard it could be the oil injection pump. Font want to get rid of oil injection. New carb on but I didn't put it on ..looking for ideas. Don't care what it costs to keep original but want it original

I would love to see you make this thing a little different than "the usual" for your channel. I would like to see you put a pitbike engine or street bike engine in it with sequential gearbox and slap shifter. It would take some fabrication but if anyone could do it, I know it would be you. And I would thoroughly enjoy watching an elaborate build series of such creation. The hell with a simple Honda go kart engine swap. That's too boring. Do something different and out of your comfort zone. Not to mention it would help bring more people to your channel besides the offroad gang.

Search KZitem for Yamaha engine upgrade. Save the clutch and use it on the predator engine. 212 cc predator engine is $100 with coupon. The engine upgrade conversion is less expensive than rebuilding that engine.

If you could rebuild the engine and make it fast, I say go for it. If the engine is a bust, i think that Diesel engine would be really unique to the project. Plus, with that diesel ungoverned, that golf cart would freight-train down the road.
